Well, that 100th super-duper special episode was about as divisive as I thought it was going to be. I've seen lots of people going into a lot of depth analyzing the episode and debating whether or not it was "good" (whatever that means).
Honestly, I'm not sure whether or not this is (by whatever standards) a "good" or a "bad" episode. There have been plenty of analytical reviews that discuss the plot and various sub-plots of all of the characters that were shown and people have gotten quite vehement in their positions. Some blog posts by other users have become miniature war-zones where people who normally act in the best of behaviour have devolved into angered, approaching-butthurt levels of indignation. So, I'm not really going to touch on that.
What I will say is what I thought of this episode: fun. There may not have been the best of stories or the most satisfying of endings in Slice of Life, but despite all of that it was an incredibly enjoyable episode for me to watch. In every scene, there was something that I could enjoy and ultimately that produced an episode that was really just silly and fun. My only real complaint is that Amethyst Star/whatever her name is was addressed as maybe doing something in the first few minutes and was then never heard from again, which makes me a little sad
Other than that, though, I had a gas. Metilda and Cranky were fun, Steven Magnet returned and apparently has some wicked backstory stuff with Cranky that was teased at. Doctor Whooves was a delight (even if his catchphrase was overused). I really liked how he's this science-obsessed dude who keeps on getting one-upped by magic and his stuff with the bowling pins was a thing of beauty. Derpy or "Muffins" was pretty cute, the flower ponies were oh so dramatic, the Octavia and Vinyl Scratch moments were wonderful, and Lyra and Bon Bon (while they may not have had much of a story or role to play) were disgustingly adorable and I loved them.
