Worst Patient Ever - Update Complete & Parting Thoughts

A year to the day since I published the first chapter of Worst Patient Ever, and as of now the story is at last complete. It’s almost a misnomer to only think of this story as a year-long process. In reality, it’s taken well over that, nearing on two years since I first started to brainstorm, outline, and sketch out how the story would take place.

Nose to the Grindstone - New Story & Story Updates

To my fellow Canadians in the room: Happy Thanksgiving! Enjoy the changing of the leaves, the cooler weather, and bountiful turkey- and potato- and gravy-related foods. Enjoy a walk through a park or something where the leaves have fallen before the snow comes (unless you're like me and the snow's already here 8D).

    Leaked Episode - "Daring Done"

In case people haven't heard, Hasbro appears to have accidentally leaked next week's episode and now it's poppin' up all over YouTube. I considered waiting until next week to watch it (like I'm sure many are doing), but when I found out it was "Daring Done," that wasn't happening.

    So I watched it.

    And I loved it.

    Spoilers below.

New Years - Updates & What's Coming · 6:53am Jan 3rd, 2018

Happy New Year, one and all!

Now that we're a full day into 2018 and the world hasn't quite ended yet, I'd like to take a moment to reflect and, of particular importance to you, talk about why I've been silent for the last several weeks and what updates will be coming when.

Like everything we see here, I hope 2018 will be festive, colourful, and bright.

Before I get into any reflection stuffs, I wanted to make a few quick and immediate notes regarding updates and when I hope to have new material published. This will be particular relevance to readers of Worst Patient Ever. After, I'll get into a little bit of explanation of where I've been, what 2017 held for me, and where I plan to go this year.

Story(ies):

  • Worst Patient Ever - In my last blog post, I recognize that I said I would have this story done before 2017 was out. Unfortunately, this was not the case due to reasons explained below. For those of you waiting for the next update, it should hopefully be along in the next two weeks once I have everything settled. I cannot guarantee a specific date and cannot say anything more than that finishing this story is my immediate priority writing-wise and will be working on the next chapter as much as I can.
  • New Story - Over the holiday break, I have finished writing a new one-shot story that has just gone through the editing process. I felt the need to take a break from my other projects and write something warm and fluffy, and as soon as the cover art is done it will be published here. You can expect it within the next few days, most likely.
  • TwiGlimmer Collab - This is something I've been working on with Carapace very slowly over the last several months. The current chapters need a fair bit of editing, I think, and there are still several chapters to work on before it is complete. I am not sure when this will go live, or on whose account it will appear on, but I am hopeful for within the next few months.
  • New Projects - Once Worst Patient Ever is done, I will be turning my attention to new and ongoing projects that I have had on the backburner for anywhere between a few weeks to a year. I'm not sure which will be next (it depends on how hectic my life gets), but you can expect anything from another DaringDash story, to something crazy like LimestonexLightning Dust. The Fates will decide!

Where I've Been:
I've never been big on sharing personal details online in any forum space, including fimfic, but I feel the need to provide a brief explanation for where I've been and why I haven't been responding to comments, dropping the ball on my prereading stuffs with other authors, and why I've been a ghost-maeus in general. By brief, I mean a few sentences.

My first semester of grad school hit me harder than expected in the last few weeks, and the requirements I needed to meet meant that I had to forsake much of my writing time. These school obligations have been compounded by family medical emergencies and unexpected major home maintenance issues. For a good three-four weeks, I had to abandon writing as a hobby altogether to work through everything. I cannot promise that this won't happen again as I move into my second semester of grad school, but I can say I will try to maintain some level of writing activity throughout each week.

2017 in Review - Brief:
Again, I don't like to share too many personal details on social platforms, so this part of the blog will also be quite brief.

For all of it's ups and downs, 2017 has been a monumental year for me. I'm not the fastest writer by any means, but this year I have finished 4 stories and started my first long-fic in Worst Patient Ever. It's been excellent in terms of writing experience, even if I'm not at the amount of output I would like to be at by now. I also started a graduate program this year, applied for my first major scholarships, and have held my first work position for over a year.

This year was my first journey internationally and marked my first visit to a My Little Pony convention at BronyCon. I had a lot of fun attending, and I hope to do so again this year in 2018. Old friendships were entrenched, reinforced, and made all the stronger, and I even managed to make a few new friends whom I now consider near and dear. Some family members passed away, and their absence will be long felt in myself and my immediate family.

And, most of all, 2017 was a year in which I felt loved and accepted more than any other. There may have been several trials and tribulations, but more than that I've been accepted, loved, and embraced for who I am, and I do not think I knew quite how wonderful a feeling that was until now.

Happy New Year, everyone. I'll do my best to be more active and engaged around here, and I hope to be giving you all more content soon.

Best,

Tim

I all too easily understand the pressures of real life attacking the writing lifestyle. Especially with huge pressures like school, it's a pretty cool thing that you managed to come out with such amazing (and heart-melting) stories as you did. I very much look forward to what you have in store for us in the coming year! :pinkiehappy:
