There've been recent attempts to obtain Fimfiction users’ personal data, like passwords and/or emails through links like the one I'm making fun of above. And a distressing amount of people don't seem to know what phishing attempts are.

While it didn’t get many entries, it nevertheless attracted the attention of some big authors and was the origin of two of my favourite fics. Overall, I think it was a success, so I’ve decided to run another one!

I'm guessing you checked "Only allow one response per person (requires login)"? It's a minor point, and probably not an issue for most, but I did find it a bit surprising that I had to log in.

knighty, you may wish to put up a disclaimer stating that these would be at will donations, and not membership fees.
I left my answers, but I do want to take the time to state very clearly that any sort of paid membership is an absolute dealbreaker. I don't think it has ever really made things better on any site that has added them, and I don't think it would be good here. As long as the ads remain unobtrusive, I am fine.

So, what do you mean by "enhancements"? I'd donate somewhere between 20 and 40 bucks a year to keep the site running and you out of poverty, sure, but I'd honestly rather not get any exclusives besides ditching ads. Actual preferential stuff or useablity upgrades kinda skeeve me out and make me not respect sites.
(Okay, I will also accept Fimfic House improvements, but that's where I draw the line!)
I dare say the money to kill ads scared me a mite bit. Rather deal with some tiny ads I don't pay attention to then the minuscule amount of money I'm more likely to notice.
3123700 I'm not sure, but it'd be ultra minor stuff like being able to optionally view more comments per page. Nothing like Deviantart's system if you're thinking of that at all.
I chose the $1 a month and $10 for a year. However, a Mcdona;d's cheeseburger and 2.7 milkshakes are looking pretty good. Man, this quite a hard financial choice . . .

If you're looking to expand the fandoms you cover with your site format, sister sites please, as in some links at the bottom of each page where the stats, staff, privacy policy and other such stuff can be found, and little other mention.

Maybe things are different here, but I don't think that people on FiMFic count as average people nor a proper place to take a sample that can be distributed for the entire population. I mean, if that were true, you'd never have asked this poll, and we wouldn't have AdSense. And in case that wasn't clear, I was speaking in general terms, not specifically for FiMFic.

Yes, he plans to expand his site coverage to include other fanfiction.
NO, it will not impact what you see on FIMFICTION in any way! The sister sites will have separate URLs. The only thing you may see differently is a possible link to the sister sites somewhere on the home page.

I'm just going to leave this here. I had my adblock turned off for a good amount of time and then I started getting re-direct ad's and sound ads on fimfiction. Then I turned that sucker back on :| I don't mind ad's that aren't annoying or invasive. I get that your providing a service and hosting awesome content but when the ads interrupt my experience on you're website I'm not going to leave them. That being said it's been a month or two so I'll enable them again and see if anything's fixed.
Would rather a once a year payment so I don't have to keep seeing the transactions posted to my bank. Also, would be nice to have a small humble note near usernames/under the avatar telling others that we are "site supporters".

Fimfiction, as knighty already explained to us in a older blog post will always be fimfiction.
Any new site expansions will use the same site software/databases but will be reached with a different URL and have more access to non-pony works. At least, I think that's how it was told to be.

I wouldn't mind seeing FIMfiction's website format being available for other fandoms.
Although I do turn my adblocker off for Fimfiction, I usually download fics to read off-site, so the ads aren't much of an issue anyway. That being so, I'd probably see this as a "site supporter" thing rather than as an "go ad-free" thing. I wouldn't reject the notion out of hand, at least.
