If you like D&D stuff, or just tabletop rpg stuff in general, one of the people I follow online is trying to get funding to create something to sell for Dungeon Masters to increase immersion.

    Happy Holidays

This is your yearly reminder that I wrote a decently funny Christmas story in the long-ago times. If you haven't read it, you should! If you have read it, maybe you should just stick with blurred memories of how good it was.

    Books!

So, due to my high level connections here and there, I now have an advance copy of several highly sought after ponyfic books. Now that I've had a chance to check several of them out in person, I have to say that Ponyfeather Publishing does excellent work. Anyone able to pick one up, at Bronycon or ordering them afterward, should totally do so.

Last Week on City Of Doors 7/7/2019

So, I've actually been posting on my primary blog lately. Which has been nice, given that I've pulled myself out of depression enough to actually do stuff like that. So, here's been my daily content over there:

Here are five slightly edited old reviews:
A Little Push by LuminoZero
In Her Shadow by LuminoZero
Wingover by LuminoZero
Storm Wardens by LuminoZero
Culture Shock by BlackSkulls

A Little Push by LuminoZero

A bit too much telling instead of showing, but I ended up liking this one. Could really believe this version of an older Rainbow Dash as wife and mother. This is first of four stories and I’m looking forward to the rest of them.

In Her Shadow by LuminoZero
[story link] [my original review]

Much like the previous, I liked this one. It isn’t a masterpiece, but has believable characters having realistic responses to things. It does feel like a single scene from a longer story. Both this and the previous one read like brief glimpses into someone’s headcanon for the next generation of MLP.

Wingover by LuminoZero
[story link] [my original review]

This was much more a proper story than the previous two. Actually felt like it could have been an episode of the show. This particular version of MLP has a bit of OC overload, which is to be expected when the characters are all the show character’s children, but it’s not to a dealbreaking degree. The characters are all somewhat simple, but not shallow or two-dimensional. They are actually pretty close to the depth of character the show itself gives us. This particular headcanon could easily be a Friendship Is Magic spin-off series.

Storm Wardens by LuminoZero
[story link] [my original review]

I liked this one the best of these four stories. It is also the one that is the closest to having a proper story with a start, middle, and end with plot and character arcs. Plus a cool worldbuilding idea tucked in at the end and a callback to the second one of these stories. All in all, considering the series as a whole, I really enjoyed with particular version of next gen MLP and would love to raed more stories about these characters. I’ve already seen a lot of the pictures and little comics the artist has done, but they aren’t the same as full stories.

Culture Shock by BlackSkulls
[story link] [my original review]

This is half of a decent story. It’s got a good setup, but no real meat and the end just kind of happens. Two young mares come to ponyville, bother our main character (Applejack’s son) and then one of his cousins makes him feel better. That’s pretty much it. Just kind of, well, empty. Not even as good as the first of the four above.

As always, The Big Master Review List is here: { THE MASTER LIST }
If you know of a text-format reviewer I'm not keeping track of, please let me know and I'll see if they meet the criteria to be assimilated into the list.

If you are an author who wants a more detailed review of a story I've covered feel free to message me. My reviews tend to be fairly light, mostly just reactions to a story right after reading it. I am happy to give a more careful read and reply to anyone who wants more precision and/or feedback.
