A Question For My Doctor Whooves Followers... · 2:30am Apr 21st, 2015
Hello, everybody. I want to start this blog off with an apology to my followers who are fans of my Doctor Whooves stories. I know progress on them has slowed down by...well...A LOT over the past year. I haven't hit burnout on them or anything like that. I just feel horrible sometimes that it's been so long since I've last updated that series. Work, school, and procrastination are pretty much the main reasons behind this. I know I've probably said this time and time again since last year when my writing began to slow down; but I am truly sorry for keeping any of you who are fans of my series waiting. I love writing these stories, entertaining all of you with them, and hearing your feedback - whether it be positive thoughts or constructive criticism. I don't plan to stop this series and I will continue to write it until the very end of the story.
But, anyway, this leads to the question I have for you all. I'm sure those of you who have followed my stories for a while know that I am in the midst of writing not one but two Doctor Whooves series. The second series in question being The Doctor Whooves Chronicles. I know it was probably really confusing for some of you when I started that series. Why write two Doctor Whooves series? When I started it, I went in with the goal of writing a simpler and more straightforward Doctor Whooves series alongside my main Doctor Whooves series. I love my main Doctor Whooves series but I sometimes look back and feel that I throw in too many references to other things that fans on this site may not understand. I do plan to tone that down a bit in the future but I do have some...interesting crossovers planned for the much longer "Season 2". I hope to write the crossovers well enough that any of you can read them and enjoy them, even if you aren't familiar with the other fandoms being involved. But there still is that fear I have of accidentally isolating some of you who enjoy my work. And that's why I started the Doctor Whooves Chronicles. The simpler companion series, shall we say. But, as time has progressed, my drive for that series has gone down more and more. Especially now that it's been well over half a year since I finished the most recent "episode" of that series. As some of you may know, I absolutely HATE cancelling stories I've started. I was planning on announcing on putting that series on an official hiatus with no plans to continue it for a while. But, recently, I've been conflicted about even bothering to continue it at all. Why bother with two Doctor Whooves series?
So here's my question. Are you interested in seeing me continue The Doctor Whooves Chronicles? And that's a question I hate to ask. I don't want to sound like I'm turning my stories into work and that I'm writing them solely to please people. I just want to hear some feedback from you, my followers. What are your thoughts on that series overall? Would you mind if I put it on an extended hiatus or outright cancelled it altogether and just return to being responsible for one Doctor Whooves series? I still have the mild drive to possibly continue it at some point but most, if not all, of my focus and drive really lies in my main series. I don't know. I just feel like I'm on neutral ground here. Sorry if I sound so depressed. I just get this way sometimes when I enter long periods of time without updating my stories. I love writing my stories and I am incredibly thankful to all of you who have read and enjoyed them. I may not be a popular figure within the MLP community but I don't need that. I'm proud to have earned the attention of all 367 of you and I hope to continue entertaining you and any more potential followers to come.
I guess I'll just end this by saying that I have a couple term papers to finish for school and then I plan to complete the next chapter in my main series. You've all waited long enough. And, as always, I look forward to hearing what you have to say. And, again, thank you.
And now an awesome Sunset Shimmer music video because why not?
Honestly, I enjoy both of your DW series, so I'd like to see them both continue.
I read that, look at my collection of in-progress story ideas and the variety they represent, and realize that the reason for having so many is simple: if you do hit a burnout, lull, or period of disinterest in one idea, you've got that many more to focus on in the meantime so progress is always being made on something.
I, too, often feel a bit down when I realize how long it's been since I added a new idea or mapped out a new scene in one of my stories, but I can counteract that by focusing on the progress I instead made in this other story. So what if I've known that the characterization in the story with a Stargate underneath the Crystal Empire has been in need of a total overhaul since last summer? I've just about hammered out the ordering of events in the opening chapter in the story with Vinyl as a Monster Tamer, meaning that the Monsters on the Rampage Group is a step closer to having its third story (seriously, does no one write stories with a focus on Equestria's wildlife?).
tl;dr Definitely don't cancel DWC if you still have ideas for it you want to share. Even if it's just as a backup for dry spells in your main series, it's best to have it around, because who knows, you may get a sudden revitalizing train of thought that rockets it to the forefront of your focus and won't let you focus on anything else before you've recorded it all lest you forget what you thought of.
tl;dr for the tl;dr Keep it.
I really like both your DW stories, but if you feel like you need to take a break from the second one then put it on hold for a bit.
Well, you know I've been reading your stories for like two years now, right. I absolutely love your main Doctor Whooves story! It just so happens many of those things you do crossover with happen to be things I'm already familiar with so at least I'm not alienated.
However, in all honesty, I've never been that fond of Doctor Whooves Chronicles. Don't get me wrong, though. They're great stories themselves, and I can appreciate their simpler scope. I don't know. It kind of felt to me like they were getting too much in the way of your main series. Anyway, if you decide to not continue Doctor Whooves Chronicles, I would not be upset at all. But whatever you want to do is fine.
on the video...... she sang all night and the sun set in about 5 seconds????? also it stopped and came back up in the west.........
(Aaaah this is a really late feedback I know but I haven't spent much time on FIMFIC lately)
I really like them both. I understand most of the references in your main, and I've very much enjoyed the Chornicles so far and would be disappointed not to see them continued.
