    Never A Dull Moment

Thank you all for helping me out back in May  The support means the world to me, and thanks to your kind contributions I was able to go and visit my boy in Britain. I'll try and mock up a proper recap blog—though I am notoriously terrible at doing those, I don't think I've ever managed a proper recap blog for any of the various conventions I've gone to over the years. I guess there was

No no no
It isn't trust me, It hurts. Real bad.
I have been burned out before.
All I can say is I don't wont to go back there.
(and I'm not talking about fire burning ether, though that does hurt!)

Though it feels like a curse (sometimes).
Life is a gift.

Though it can feel like a waste of your time.
Life is worth living.

Though it can hurt oh so very much.
Life is worth the effort.

Though it will be dull (at times).
Life, if you let it can/is/will be awesome!

Love ya all!

No, dude. Seriously. Don't do it.

You alright?

~Skeeter The Lurker

Regi, don't do something stupid we'll live to regret.

For real, man. Don't.

And if you come here and get all "lol I'm not suicide u guyz quit worryin" I will smack you. You aren't allowed to post enigmatic bullshit and get away with it with your track record.

What is the problem?

Bullshit. The thing about being burned out is that it is still possible to rekindle the flame. It's what friends (or at least internet stalkers) are for. It will get better, mang. We just have to figure out how to make it that way.

I feel the same way

You alright, Regi?

Modified Kurt Cobain quote...

Regi, is something going on?

Title made me think of this

2918155 I have been rather quiet about my latest problems. Your concern is admirable, but honestly, sometimes someone posting a vaguely pretentious webcomic is just an expression of emotion.

2918116
2918193
2918616 No, but it is not life threatening.

2918697 I would hope so, or else I would be dead.

Has he ever been alright? :unsuresweetie:

2918793
That's why I didn't tell you not to do anything stupid. You're a smart guy, and I'm sure you know the difference between the right and wrong thing to do. The real question is, how do you feel. If you don't feel like sharing, I'm not offended. I just want to remind you that we care about you is all.

2918793
Glad you're okay.

That said, I'm still going to smack you. :fluttershysad:

Let's see if I can give this a positive spin instead of a gloomy one.

It's better to burn out than to keep on living.

I interpret this as meaning that it's better to live than to simply exist.
I'd rather go out in a blaze of glory than to simply keeping trudging along without sense or direction.

So let's burn out, Regi.

2918876 I do not feel well

2919126 do what pleases you

2919178 that is a very inspiring take on the quote
good job

2919422

I do not feel well

I'd hug you if I could.
But everyone's already looking at me oddly withouth me hugging the monitor, so I'll just stay here typing words.

2919422
Hope you feel better soon then. Life sucks ass, and when there's nothing good going on or you feel like you can't enjoy the good things you have, it's hard to ignore that fact. That being said, there's too much good in the world for you to avoid it entirely. Until you find it, hang in there.

And regi trolls (almost) everyone yet again
love it

2919964 it wasn't a troll, but okay? Thanks?

Long text crawl incoming!

I think why people are worried about you isn't because they disagree with the overall theme of the cartoon, but what one particular interpretation of the cartoon's statement implies. First, let's look at the quote again:

"It's better to burn out than to have to keep living."

The phrase "burn out" had an immediate and unique meaning to me: it implies that all the "fuel" that was available was "burned". All opportunities were explored as best as any human being could do, all choices were made, a life was lived to its fullest extent. Scientifically speaking, fire needs a spark of heat and a source of fuel in order to burn; if either one is lacking, then fire cannot exist, and is extinguished. If we extend this idea to the quote via metaphor, its meaning changes.

So, the quote could be interpreted as "The ideal state to lose all consciousness and pass away from this physical world is when there is nothing left to do and there is no more will to continue living, because remaining conscious when not being on fire with the vibrancy of life is a hell no one wants to experience."

I think people are worried that you are worried that you don't feel that "fire", and that this "lack of fire" may motivate you to end your life, which would make a lot of people sad, including strangers on the Internet.

This "lack of fire" could manifest itself as 1.) not having enough resources to continue physical functionality (I.e. "no more fuel"), or 2.) not having the will to continue living (I.e. "no spark of heat"). The first scenario may not be avoidable, depending on circumstances: physical disease could shut the body down, clinical mental health issues could send the brain off-kilter, age could degrade the body's core systems, poor lifestyle choices could lead one vulnerable to a number of debilitating conditions, so on and so forth. Since you are commenting and responding, this does not seem to be the issue you are working through right now, because you are physically fit enough to continue to interact with your readers, at the very least. This means you still have the "fuel" to continue existing, because someone who doesn't have that "fuel" would not be able to talk to strangers on the Internet.

This leaves the second source of people's concern: that something has affected your will to exist and/or continue to function. As stated, without that "spark of heat", how can one be "on fire with the love of life", so to speak?

The best us strangers on the Internet can do is to continue to talk to you, comment, PM, whatever they may be doing that each person is comfortable with, in an attempt to motivate you to keep going; after all, what creates a "spark of heat"? Scientifically speaking, friction makes heat, which happens when two surfaces rub against each other: you strike a match in order to light the tip, you strike flint and iron together to make sparks, you rub sticks quickly together to make a flame. By commenting and keeping up the communication, we are hoping to cause enough positive "friction" to "spark" a motivation within you to keep living life.

Know that a lot of our concern and our expressions of concern have this purpose: to "push" you, with our best intentions, to keep going with life, to help you find the motivation to continue. Why do we do this? Because inwardly, most of us agree with the comic: the worst conscious experience is to be effectively "dead", "burned out" and "out of fuel or out of heat", and yet still be conscious. We all want to live our life to the fullest, and we all want to be able to move on from life when we have no more fuel left to burn. We do not want to be stuck in a situation where we are no longer physically active and/or making a difference in our life, nor do we want to be in a situation where we feel hopeless or have no desire to keep on living, and be conscious through those experiences.

What is nice about living life is that, as long as you have "fuel for the fire", all you need is that "spark" with which to "rekindle the flames" and move back to a more positive life position. We hope that our expressions of concern and our desire to help you out helps rekindle that "spark" within yourself, which is what motivates us to help you out.

All of this ran through my head after I saw the original post and read everyone else's comments. Make of it whatever you will, although I hope that its affect on you is a positive one for the reasons I stated.

I wish you the best of luck, and sincerely hope you move past whatever obstacles you may be facing. Life is difficult, but know that in general, people are willing to help their own when they get in some kind of trouble. I believe that we all hope that we become a positive influence on you, as best as us strangers on the Internet can become

Sincerely,

Mr. Album

SO MANY WORDS!

Wow just wow
That was really deep
Not being an idiot, I am impressed!

"The ideal state to lose all consciousness and pass away from this physical world is when there is nothing left to do and there is no more will to continue living, because remaining conscious when not being on fire with the vibrancy of life is a hell no one wants to experience."

That is my favourite part because it is true.
So true.

I wish you the best of luck, and sincerely hope you move past whatever obstacles you may be facing. Life is difficult, but know that in general, people are willing to help their own when they get in some kind of trouble. I believe that we all hope that we become a positive influence on you, as best as us strangers on the Internet can become

I Second that.
