New Past Sins Side Story - The Road Home · 7:15pm Mar 26th, 2015
Well, was going to write this blog post when the story was actually out of the submission process. EQD, however, posted their story update much earlier than I would have anticipated, just going to have to play catch up.
Yes, as I hinted towards a while ago, there is a new Past Sins related story.
I've been working on this story a long while, both as something new in the universe as well as a sort of flag marker. My Little Pony canon continues to progress, and while I will no longer be rewriting any stories to account for it, I do want to try keep Past Sins associated with the show. So while there is going to be a new adventure, I'll also hopefully be dropping some hints and clues along the way of what was going on with Nyx in particular situations/episodes.
Beyond that, I hope you all enjoy.

It is up. You can go view it. It's just officially through the submission process yet, so it won't show up on the front page or in searches.
Funny thing is, I think Past Sins fits pretty nicely into show canon, retroactively. There's changes, of course, but nothing overly major. Nyx possibly getting crowned alongside Twilight, Nyx coming along for things like Rainbow Falls and the Equestria Games, probably staying home for things like Daring Don't and the Season 3 opener, joining the crusaders during their episodes. The Scootaloo camping episode might have never happened (why be afraid of the dark when one of your friends is literally the night?). And Twilight might have been fighting Tirek with the power of 4.5 alicorns (she's only a filly, after all).
Anyway, more Past Sins, whoo. Will read once I get home.

Hmm... I have mixed feeling on this to say the least.
Past Sins is still probably my all time favorite Brony fanfiction, and Nyx my favorite OC, so seeing more adventures following off of it is always a good thing. Reading the summary for this next instalment, I'm just not sure it sits write with me. I miss Twilight's treehouse as much as anyone, and I'm no real fan of her new crystalline palace either, but a story about her trying to rebuild the old library just feels sort of like a failure to let go of the past. Unless of course one of the points story is that Twilight herself needs accept the change and move on.
I don't know. I wouldn't want to ask for spoilers, but I'm also worried about intentions here, which makes it a bit hard for me willingly immerse myself in this story. Then again, maybe I should just have more trust and faith in one of my favorite authors.

The story isn't about her trying to rebuild the library. Her attempts to do so, partially for Nyx's and Spike's sake, is kind of the spark that gets the story going. The story itself largely focuses on the new palace, actually.

I opened my feed today, and my first thought was: "Somebody call an ambulance, I'm gonna have a heart attack!" My second thought was: "Welp, there goes any chance of actually getting sleep tonight."
A new Past Sins story! WOOHOO! Past Sins is the story that showed me that fanfiction isn't crap, and can in fact be amazing. That there's more of it makes me want to dye my hair pink and become Pinkie Pie because she's the only person in the multiverse allowed to be this happy.

Yeah, when I saw Past Sins updating on EQD, I was confused for a while. My news feed certainly did not say anything about it at the time.
Interesting, you do this right before the season five premier, I take you will make changes if you need to this new story if season five calls for it?
Or you have already finish it and you hurried to start posting it now so that it's complete by the time of the season five premier so that you won't have to?
Or you plan to write this as season five progresses episode by episode?

If it's not too much trouble...does anyone know if there's a set update schedule for this fic? I'm trying to decide whether to dive in right now, or wait until it's completed...
