So my latest story is Pink and White, which is a little different from Purple and White. And it's a different White to boot!
No worries though, with this story out of the way I'll be able to get back to Under Her Wings (almost halfway through the next chapter) and after that quite possibly a new Twilestia which I've been toying with for a while now.
This story has made me wonder however... what do you people like? Are you like me in that every main six ship is acceptable? Or are you more predisposed towards some?
Regardless, I will continue to write. I hope you people continue to enjoy.

What I wanna know is: Why not Fluttershy? Is she too meek? Do their characters clash in your head? No spark?
I think the issue is more the way Fluttershy is generally written in twishy fics than any fundamental issue with her character. She is often written as being extremely passive, though with moments of steel.
This can be played well, but it's extremely easy for Fluttershy to come off as a non-character or sounding board for others.
Additionally if you want to keep her in character, Fluttershy doesn't speak much generally. In the show it's more about her reactions to events, so you have that visual cue as to how she's responding to something. In a fic you would need to either have excessive descriptions or write it in a third person omniscient voice with character thoughts so you could describe how she is feeling.
Again, this can be done very well, but even in extremely well written Flutteryshy fics (Green by Steel Resolve) she is still more of a passive reflection of outside influences.

On a more serious note; perhaps you should take a look at my AppleShy story. If you like that, perhaps I can do something similar with Twilight as well?
I admit, that most of the mane 6 shipped with each other appeal to me, but I do really enjoy RariShy (Green got me started on that one), RariJack (opposites who aren't so opposite), and TwiDash (especially if the writer makes Dash a little vulnerable). I've recently found a few Derpy/Mac stories that have struck my fancy as well as Spitfire/Rainbow Dash. I guess for me it's not so much about who's being shipped as just how well the author brings the relationship to life.

As for shippings, I respect the lot of them, but don't delve too deeply. I've got maybe three pairings I like.

2867766 I read it a bit ago, very adorable, really liked it. And it really fits Applejack's commitment to family and Fluttershy's commitment to her animals. Would love to read more. But Fluttershy and Applejack have similar life goals, so to speak. The mesh well.
When I imagine pairings with Fluttershy (where there is an actual relationship and not just a mention of her being with someone) I consider what personality, goals, or viewpoints mesh and which ones dont.
Fluttershy meshes with AJ because of a shared commitment and love of animals, and somewhat in personality due to potential for stubbornness, AJ is just more outspoken about it.
Fluttershy can work with RD because of RD's loyalty and very protective nature, and Fluttershy's ability to keep RD grounded
Fluttershy works with Rarity because Rarity brings out her confidence and hides Flutters' quieter moments with her dramatics and powerful personality
Fluttershy works with Pinkie Pie because Pinkie can be extremely insightful at times, understanding that sometimes you just need quiet, but at the same time her personality can compensate for Fluttershy's shyness
But what do Fluttershy and Twilight have in common? Depending on where in the timeline you put her, Twilight is likely awkward around others due to her lack of understanding and focus on learning, but not shy, or warming up to others as she focuses on understanding friendship, or a master of friendship. I could definitely see a fic where Flutters is more of a setting than a character, like in your Appleshy fic. Twilight would be the character of focus, and the fic would be about her interacting with Flutters, but I don't think a story with her sharing "equal time", as it were, would work.
Though of course, any pairing in the hands of the skilled can work, and there are likely fics out there already that prove me wrong. That's just what I see/how I feel with what i've read/what i've watched.

Incidentically, today I thought of "impossible" ships. Raripie was one of them. Then I found this. heh. Let's see if I'm wrong.
