The More Most Dangerous Game contest deadline ended over a couple of hours ago and I barely submitted the thing in time. Final rush of 18 hours of almost non-stop writing and I managed almost 2.5k words (17 words below the minimum word limit, I hope EqD doesn't disqualify my entry =s).
For fourteen years, she had been under media scrutiny since her discovery and her adoptive family fighting for her right to be recognized as a rightful citizen. For fourteen years, she had grown up as the only sapient pony in a world full of humans.
Now, Celestia is finally ready to tell her story.
After-writing notes
Personally, I think this entry fared better in terms of writing than my previous Most Dangerous Game contest and I didn't cut as much stuff as I did last time (think wood shavings compared to large wood chips).
The prompt was, as I mention previously, for My Little Dashie. Instead of Dashie, we have Celestia and instead of the human's point of view, we have Celestia's point of view. I went with an interview format somewhat similar to Erin Olsen/Sunflower's interview in Sunflower - Side Projects, with some flashbacks thrown in. The flashbacks touches on three key points of her life: her first discovery, getting her cutie mark and living in a human society, points which the original My Little Dashie also touched upon.
Deconstruction also played a part in the entry, which edges it closer to All-American Girl, though not to the same extend. Maybe in the future when I do more snapshots on Little Celestia on Earth. I have another idea involving Lauren Faust that I want to write in the future.
(The entry have actually hinted at it.)
(I really wanted to do that Lauren Faust scene but EqD had a rule against writing real persons. )
Speaking of Lauren Faust, originally Celestia was going to mention her for her answer to the question on MLP: FiM but ended up shaved. The original response was supposed to:
1. Mention Lauren as Celestia's inspiration to go into animation.
2. Have met her several months before the airing of The Mare in the Moon/The Elements of Harmony (the Lauren Faust scene mentioned above)
This will definitely get restored when the contest is over.
Another thing I'm a little unsatisfied with is the scene with the sisters. The descriptions could use some fixing up and I might want to make Celestia less injured (but this is still up in the air but the description is getting fixed).
Well, that's all I have on my mind right now about the entry. Until next time. :3
