1.17.15 - Sweetie Belle and The Best Present Ever

Hey Everypony,

Dropping by to once again add a short story. As with the last one, it's a CMC story, this time focusing on Sweetie Belle. And once again it was written for a good buddy of mine, who got me an amazing present out of nowhere, which inspired the idea behind this one.

I think I've improved a bit while writing this story. I've had trouble in the past sticking to one character's point of view, and I really was a stickler about it this time. In fact I had to basically re-edit the whole thing when I was about 80% done just to make sure that it was told from (mostly) only one character's viewpoint. This is a tough thing for me to do usually, so I'm pretty happy with the fact that I'm reasonably satisfied that I pulled it off.

The Best Present Ever isn't so much a straight up comedy as the last one (The League of Indomitable Evil) was, but there's still enough bits that crack me up to check the comedy box on it (seriously, the part with the Party Cannon near the end slays me >XD ). It's just got a few more feels going on. In fact I took out some of the more dramatically intense parts, including a rather sad scene where Sweetie Belle tells Rarity off. It was a good scene that I was pretty happy with, but I felt it detracted too much from the main emotional core, with is Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo's relationship. That scene, as good as it was, made it too much Sweetie Belle/Rarity-centric. If anyone is curious to see it I could maybe add it as a bonus chapter. Just let me know in the comments.
