2.14.14 - Chapter 8: Promises · 4:31am Feb 15th, 2014
Mellow greetings, citizens.
Well, it appears that I pulled a G.R.R. Martin in two different ways. First, I underestimated how long I would take to write this chapter. Sorry. Secondly, and this is the more encouraging part, I pulled a "Feast For Crows" and wrote too dang much for Chapter 8. So I've got a BIG chunk of what will become Chapter 9 already written as of this point. Now, I'm not saying I'll have it out sooner, since every time I do that I invariably take way longer than I anticipate with it, but I am saying that I've got a head start. There. Hopefully that won't jinx anything.
I been getting a little bit more attention lately, which is encouraging. Thanks to Creations Sake for the nice review he wrote on the forums of The Network. Appreciated that. I have been trying to get the word out about this fic lately, since I am looking for feedback. By the way: Seriously. Feedback. Me gusta.
So Chapter 8 was interesting to write because I'm really trying to get Twilight's character arc going in a convincing manner. Granted, it's not like she's going through a drastic change in her character, but at the same time there's a lot of levels to the sorrow she's going through, and I wanted to get that down in a convincing manner. The same is true of Celestia, who actually has far more cause to have a severe reaction to everything than anypony else, hence the conflict between her and Twilight during the second half of this chapter. I wanted to make it believable. Hopefully I succeeded. If anypony disagrees, please let me know.
Once again, I'm not saying Chapter 9 will be really quick to happen...I'm just saying it's got a good head start. Feels good, man.
