All good things... · 6:37am Dec 19th, 2014
Two of my favorite shows ended tonight. One of which I've only known for a relatively short while, but the other I've known for years, and was with it from start to finish.
First, the Colbert Report. I first started watching Stephen regularly roundabouts 2012, shortly after the Hurricane in New York. My first and still best Colbert Moment was the unforgettable Suq Madiq gag. But all good things... I can't even say it. Still, I'll get to watch Stephen as himself on the Late Show, I suppose. The finale had me crying at the curtain call. Dat ending tho...
But second, to my dear, dear friend, Avatar. From your humble beginnings in the pilot, featuring Sokka and Kya travelling with Aang, to your three-season adventure with Sokka, Toph, Zuko, and Katara and Aang, travelling to defeat Fire Lord Mark Hamill Ozai, to the three-year break while we waited with the tie-in comics, to the reveal that another Avatar show was going to come, to all the Bryan and Mike trolling, through the first season, through the year-long hiatus, through the second season, the third season, and finally, right to the bittersweet liquid-pride-saturated end. Good night, sweet prince, and may a flock of angels sing thee to thy sleep.
But!! Here's to the future! To Stephen Colbert on the Late Show, and to the possibility of a third Avatar, now an Earthbender, showing up! And to the tie-in comics that will undoubtedly be made! Can we please get a soundtrack of all the seasons of Avatar now, Bryan and Mike?
