I haven't even completed act one of my current story, but I'm trying to log some possible ideas for (hopefully less stressful) things to write when my first fic is complete. At first I was saying to myself, "blaaagh I'll never write again this was too stressful etc etc." But the more I think about it, the more I realize Fimfiction.net has the potential to endure maybe one or two more of my ideas. I also put my current story's critical reception in perspective with what''s come out in the past and the average responses a majority of new fics receive - overall, I could be doing better but it's not as bad as my brain tells me.
So, here is a list of ideas I may or may not expand upon for those who actually read these blogs of mine to take a look at:
1) My first impulse is to write another romance. My inspiration is a 5-volume shojo manga called "Imadoki," written by Yuu Watase (sp?). It would star Cheerilee in her high school days. Even before wanting to become a teacher, her actions and friendships inspired the best out of the ponies around her. This quality of hers is put to the test when she meets a freshman named Big Mac. Cheerilee feels she is the only pony who sees his academic potential in spite of his frequent absences and late assignments. She sets out to help Big Mac open up, but doesn't realize there may be a price to pay for knowing what holds big Mac back. It would be tagged sad, possibly romance and possibly tragedy since in the show we know they are "just good friends."
2) Am I the only one who wants to combine Highlander lore with ponies? It would be a blatant OC tale about Connor MacHoof and Duncan MacCloud, two ponies who deal with the blessings and curses of being immortal. their friendship is strained when confronted with the knowledge that they must ultimately fight each other in order to end the prophecy blah blah blah just like in Highlander movies and the TV show.
3) This final story idea would be completely off-the-wall. My final story temptation is to write adventures starring Rainbow Dash as a superhero. Some stories would be inspired by DC comics stuff, some would be modeled off of Shonen manga or video games. Synopsis for the first tale: Rainbow Dash, the local beloved hero of Ponyville, accepts an offer from an inventor in Manehattan to endorse his new machines built to help ponies. However, the inventor's marketing strategy backfires when Rainbow Dash starts to outshine his products, ruining his chance at a career. In a jealousy-fueled rage, he vows revenge on those who would ignore him by creating a robot powerful enough to destroy the city that refused to recognize his genius. Can Rainbow Dash stop the deranged stallion? If this totally reminds you of mega man, then it's working!
So, feel free to comment regarding these three ideas, such as which idea you would like to see the most, or if any of these ideas are a copy/paste of something already written. I really like the first and the third idea. Not so sure about the second but only because crossovers aren't really my thing, though they can be done very well as exemplified by FoE. The first feels like something that hasn't really been done before which I like very much whereas the third feels a bit used to me for no other reason than because it reminds me of The Incredibles for some reason. Whichever you choose though I will be sure to read it since they all sound interesting.
188535 hmm for the third story premise I aimed for Dr Wily ripoff and somehow landed in Incredibles territory. That's okay though, and I did like that movie! I just forgot the villain was good with machines, because I haven't seen it in ages. To be honest, I'm surprised the first idea I jotted down hasn't been done before. I figured everyone would be trying their hand at fleshing out a history between the two. Guess not!
