R.I.P. My Graphics Card · 10:47pm Nov 10th, 2014
We have gathered here today to bid farewell to Selbi's graphics card. May it rest in pieces.
Yep, it happened. My nVidia GeForce GTX 260 died today. And just as I was booting up TF2 as well. That game that has been plaguing my card for years four years now, with its constant driver crashes and messing with my brain all the time. There's never been feedback from nVidia about that, other than one guy from the company who sparked some hope by visiting the TF2 forums and talking with us about it, but that never did anything. And now TF2 has officially destroyed my hardware.
Windows doesn't boot anymore (unless I disable the GPU in safe mode), shows scary red and green dots, and doesn't display a resolution different than 800x600.
I've been having strange issues all day now. Had about four BSODs, all from games (not just TF2). Guess they were signs for the shape of things to come.
I already tried taking my graphics card out and getting rid of every last bit of dust, but naturally, that didn't work.
So yeah, fuck.
I already got some recommendations for a new one, such as a GTX 750 Ti, but I would like to get some other opinions. I don't need much, just something that runs this and some other games smoothly and has an expected life span of at least a few years (this one lasted five). Price range should be in the 100's.
Selbi's nVidia GeForce GTX 260 (May 2009 - November 2014)
I would have to suggest the GTX 750 Ti, even though I don't have it. I was planning to pick one up maybe, but I would also suggest waiting for the 900 series to flesh out if you want to get the best stuff.
Selbi, I have my old 470 GTX just sitting around. If you pay shipping, it's yours.
The only time integrated graphics in the motherboard come in handy... when video cards melt.

Okay, that would freaking sweat! I, uh, just don't know how much that would cost, what with us living halfway around the world apart.
If you could tell me how much that would cost, I'd jump on the offer!
Dang.. I saw you pop into TF2 and thought "Hey, let's take a short break from this bullshit math problem and have some fun with Selbi."

If that is true, you were a wittness of the last time anyone would see that popup with my GTX 260.
Man, jokes aside, I do feel genuinely sad right now. It's weird, as it's just a piece of hardware, but that piece of hardware has been following and helping me for five years; with it I have played more games and watched more YouTube videos than I can count.
And now it's dead.

I completely understand your emotion.
A RAM chip died on me once, back when 4GB was much. It was painful at first, but over time the wound healed and I replaced it, though still to this day I think about it.
Just give it a little time. The pain will go away and then you can move on to a new graphic card, just make sure you've learned from your mistakes and treat the new one better.
Any ideas yet what you want to get?

I'll see if ReFro's generous offer is going to be worth the shipping costs (no idea how much this is). If it's too much, I'll just get a new one, probably the praised GTX 750 Ti.
Matrix raining code.
lel, use teh print/scrn key, bro
2587013 I think i saw one for 180€ on Amazon.
Bake it! what you got to lose. http://www.overclock.net/t/1113516/gtx260-baked-and-alive It is proven to work if it is your ram that has become faulty. your artifacts look like ram.
EDIT: take off your heat sink first of course, if its a blower design as the plastic window will melt.
