I didn't look at publishing dates, but doing a site search with only the Harshwhinny tag gets seven results.
The fact that Rarity is the least-tagged of the Mane Six is an indictment of the entire fandom. Now I need to go write a thousand stories featuring her.

2567233 2567221 I seem to be missing the Mature stories, but The Coltbert Report, Horizontal Lines, and As Soft as Stone did not have the tag on Oct. 21. You have no way of telling now when a tag was applied to a story.
One thing which is interesting to me is how much more heavily used Twilight and Rainbow Dash are than the others.
Luna and Celestia are also very popular, though that doesn't especially surprise me.
Also, does the Twilight tag include the Twilicorn tag?

Additionally, the Harshwhinny tag was added so late that most stories actually featuring her did not have the tag available for use at time of post, so authors would have had to go back and retag their stories post-publication. Few but the most diehard Harshwhinny advocates likely did that.

The Ms. Harshwhinny tag was added on October 18. Knighty tweeted about it, and i made a thread on the HWIBP group commemorating the date. The first non-Mature HW-tagged story was My Harshwhinnial, for reasons, and then I later added in Horizontal Lines after I remembered it had a HW chapter.
But, yes, there are many more HW stories out there that just haven't been retagged yet, and unless they're linked from the Miss Harshwhinny Is Best Pony group, it'll be almost impossible to locate them.

That "other" is third doesn't surprise me. Two reasons: one, a lot of stories were posted before the characters had their own icons. *puts on hipster glasses* I wrote about the Cake Twins and the Pie Sisters before they were cool. Two, there are a *lot* of other characters. If you want to write about Mr Breezy or Scorpan, what other choice do you have?
I'm about ready to drop "OC" from my stories. The innocent I was then thought "OC" meant "original character." And so it does. But in practice, "OC" appears to mean, "here's my self-insert." I've only sort-of done a self-insert once; my other original characters are just that: characters I created for this story.
And "Harshwhinny," like "Prim Hemline," just seem to call for the Mature tag, don't they? (As a fandom, we've never really addressed the "bridle outfits" on display in the Carousel Boutique, have we?)

I will take your suggestions under advisement for future goffsmexy chapters of MyHW.
As for how my brain manages to survive writing it: I just take the position that stupidity is a finite resource[1], and the purpose of MyHW is to soak up as much of it as possible, so that I can brain the smarts when I write my other stories. Then I just stand as far away from it as I can, and fling words into its general direction, to be captured by the gravitational pull of its stupidity and fall inside the event horizon.

[1] This is transparently a stupid idea. Which is great! Because it means that I can just add it in to the pile, and shovel it at the story, to be dealt with and forgotten.
I find it interesting that Twilicorn outpaces all but the most-used of the rest of the main six.
