Guns of the Equestrian Royal Army (Equestrian Wars) · 10:06pm Oct 29th, 2014
Yeah so I was posting on the forums and blogs all the weapons used by the Carthaginian but now it is time to see what the ponies are going to fight back with.
Little note: I have to thank trekee for proposing some of these guns to me!
Here's the weapons.
The Steyr Mannlicher M1895
This is the standard issue rifle of the frontline Equeastrian Royal army. This unique straight pull rifle has been the issue of the Equestrians for over twenty years and has a history of praise for it's accuracy and overall reliability. However, it is heavier than the Mauser 98ks used by the Carthaginian army. It carries 6 rounds of the .303 cartridge.
The Huot light machine gun.
This machine gun is perhaps the ugliest thing to ever come out of the Canterlot Armory however, it performs far better than it looks. It was created to replace the aging Hotchkiss lmgs in use by the Equestrians. Ironically, this particular weapon was designed by a human who was working for the Canterlot army. It is perfect for laying down a good volume of medium ranged suppressive fire.
The Lebel 1886
This rifle is a relatively old bolt action design that was the original standard issue rifle of the Equestrian army before being replaced by the Styer 1895. This rifle was chambered in the older 8mm "Prance" round and carried 8 rounds in a tubular magazine. However, while the rifle was powerful and accurate, it's tubular magazine was extremely slow to reload, so much so that many units that were issued it preferred to simply load one bullet at a time. However, due to the rapid aggression from Carthage, many pony and equestrian zebra platoons are issued this rifle due to a lack of sufficient weapons.
The Vickers heavy machine gun.
This heavy but powerful water cooled machine gun was a pony copy of the Carthaginian Maxim gun. Adopted by the Equestrian army in 1910, this machine gun was made under license from the Carthaginian company DWM (Deutsche Waffen und Munitionsfabriken) and rechambered for at first the 8mm round but then later the .303 round. This gun may be heavy than the lighter air cooled machine guns used by the Carthaginians but it has a very solid reputation as a well designed machine.
The SG-43 machine gun.
This machine gun was designed as a possible replacement for the Vickers. This machine gun is light and more accurate than the Vickers and it is easy to carry on the battlefield. However, it still requires a wheeled mechanism to transport. But despite it's shortcomings, this simple machine gun has earned it's place on the battle and many Pony soldiers have come to respect the gun for saving their lives. Chambered in the standard .303 Equestrian cartridge.
The M2 Browning.
This very powerful weapon isn't actually a pony weapon. It's a human lend lease weapon given to Equestria by the United Republic of Columbia (a human nation allied with Equestria and opposes the Carthaginians). Nicknamed the "Ma Deuce" this gun fires the powerful .50 caliber round. Short of cannon fire, the .50 calbier will tear through brick walls, armor, and even some tanks. It's so powerful that one pony commander commented: "Out of all of the weapons we have in our arsenal, that damned Ma Deuce is the only weapon those carthaginians fear!"
The Webley revolver
This powerful little .45 caliber revolver is the main sidearm of the Equeatrian army. It has been in service with the ERA for many decades and shows little sign of its aging. A very popular choice for officers.
The Thompson sub machine gun.
Another lend lease weapon from the United Republic of Columbia, this sub machine is nicknamed the "Clopper" due to it's high rate of fire. This gun can carry 20 to 30 rounds of the .45 acp round although some magazines can carry 50 to 100 rounds (these are rarely used however as they are not reliable under combat conditions). This gun is very popular with pegasus commandos who mount them on battle saddles and use them to strafe enemies.
So these are the weapons so far. Feel free to suggest others for them.
all good so far, but i have to ask,
who is the poor sod that has to carry the radio?
2562678 what do you mean by that?
2562811
its a dumb way of asking who had to carry the potentially lifesaving and or leathly loud thing.
you know, like a baby in the zombocolypse.
the M1 carbine and the M1 Garand along with the PPSH-41
2562678 What do you mean? that shit is the best body armor since Kevlar 6
