Woohoo, We’re about to Crash! has disappeared from the popular stories list on the main page. We clock in with a total of 69 likes before that happened, which didn't change at all in the past twelve hours. Funny, as this story is the ONE occasion in which I didn't make any sex jokes. [And just as I was about to post this blog, the counter went up to 70. Karma.]
I must admit, I was hoping for slightly bigger numbers, especially considering this is the first thing I did in almost half a year. On the other hand, I guess that's also the explanation for the rates. I kinda had it coming anyway with that rusted-in "popularity". Either that or the story was crap.
But whatever, this is neither the right time to moan nor the right reason to do so. If we look at the bright side of it, this dialogue-only fic has the best like/dislike ratio of any of the series (as of this blog post anyway). For me that is already a pretty big achievement.
There is something else I wish to show you. This is an unfinished first draft of this story that uses a completely different approach (for starters, they are not falling to their deaths), but still features Twilight Sparkle and Rainbow Dash. It was already written on the 11th of July, but I felt like it was total garbage, so I decided to rewrite it completely with a different concept many months later on.
I guess you can take a look at it and confirm that it indeeds sucks or something.
Regardless of this story, I want to talk about future plans. Successful or not, these fics are incredibly fun to write, which (I think) is the most important factor about this whole writing business. I've decided to rethink my whole approach of writing. Less forced, more joy. Since my personal view is that I don't intend to become a professional writer, I don't intend to write the best of fiction either.
Plus, I'm a total sucker for meta stuff. I mean, check this:
• Each Dialogue-only fic is slightly longer than the previous one;
• The cover art is always containing vectors and color gradients or blur;
• The cycle is two mane six ponies, two background ponies, and two royalties.
I especially like the last line, because with that in mind I still have a ton of fun ahead of me, if I wanted to have written such a story about every single important character of this show. Who knows.
Whatever the future brings, I hope I will make the best out of it to deliver content I enjoy creating and my followers reading. With that being said, thanks to everyone for still sticking around with me after all this silence!
