    Project/Blog Update

Unfortunately, I was unable to complete the three part Fiendship is Manic intro. A couple of job opportunities took priority this week and my personal projects had to be set aside. I will working on both Phases 1-3 of Fiendship is Manic ad the next chapter of Nightmare Knights between now and the Winter Solstice (which could also easily be related to Nightmare Night, as the Princess of

Fillysophical Friday: Notes on my philosophical perspectives.

I had mentioned in my previous post that these philosophical hypotheses will often be presented in character, so I wanted to clarify some of my terminology, since words such as Epicureanism and Hegelianism won't mean much in Equestria. Subsequently, I will say a little bit about my personal philosophical perspective, as well as Mysty's. Once again, these will be dissimilar only insofar as the

New Blog Schedule; Whatever Wednesday: IC vs. OOC

In order to make my convoluted series of thoughts, musings, and rants a bit easier to follow, and in order to motivate myself to keep up with stuff here, I have decided to begin a schedule of three weekly posts, and attempt to post something each of those days.

    Filly-sophical musings on Pinkie Pie

As I'd mentioned, I will be sharing my philosophical musings on many of the more prominent figures in Equestria on this medium. To begin, I wish to explore perhaps one of the most complex and perplexing of the six ponies I affectionately refer to as the Knights of Celestia: Pinkie Pie.

    Introduction of Mystic, the Philosopher

In my previous and introductory post to this blog, I explained my sobriquets, but also introduced myself as a Pony Philosopher, upon which I will expound momentarily. A brief introduction of myself as a pony seems well in order first.

New Blog Schedule; Whatever Wednesday: IC vs. OOC · 2:20am Oct 23rd, 2014

In order to make my convoluted series of thoughts, musings, and rants a bit easier to follow, and in order to motivate myself to keep up with stuff here, I have decided to begin a schedule of three weekly posts, and attempt to post something each of those days.

Monday will be Mysty Monday. I will post things pertaining to my character, Mystic Morning, including IC presented headcanons, and various musings that are not philosophy related. Monday posts will be in character.
Wednesday will be Whatever Wednesday, including any fan rants, fan theories, OOC clarifications, or... just whatever pony related musings or stray thoughts. I will begin tonight with this post. Wednesday posts will be out of character.
Friday will be Fillysophical Friday, during witch I will post Mystic's philosophical musings and ramblings. Sometimes they will be character based, other times just theories and ideas I feel like sharing. Friday posts will be in character.

To Begin, I will clarify some of the differences, albeit few, between my earthly self and Mystic Morning.

META MYSTIC MUSINGS : MYSTIC MORNING vs. IZHANE TWILIGHT

I felt it wise to clarify the nature of my living philosophy in character as Mystic Morning, and OOC as Izhane or Ishanna. While there is a difference, it is very small. As Mysty is my ponysona, she is essentially me as a pony, with all the same hobbies, interests, turn-offs, and goals. The key difference is that Mysty knew what she meant to do as an adolescent, while all I knew was that Latin was cool, Sanskrit was 20% cooler, I was good at language and social studies, and I wanted to be a academician.

While I have spent years in college deciding between Classical Languages, Modern Linguistics, and Anthropology, Mysty spent her young adulthood studying the history of Equestria. In my real life, I have settled on, and currently study Classical Linguistic Anthropology, Philology, and Archaeology. Mysty continues to function as a historian, chronicler, and storyteller. Both my ponysona and I are interested in history, old languages, storytelling, and philosophy. The only distinction is that for Mysty, language is key to history, and to me, history is the key to the study of philology.

It is worth mentioning as well, that Mysty's special talent is storytelling, and my primary life goal is to create settings and adventures for tabletop role-playing games. So ultimately, we have the same "destiny." For her, retelling history is the greatest story, while for me, the joy is in finding the stories. As far as the study of philosophy, that is a new interest of mine. It came along about the same time I discovered FiM, and thus is part of Mystic's identity.

Anyway, returning to my point, these philosophical musings are informed with active research. I have no credentials in philosophy as of this time. Mystic Morning, however, does, as she has had the time to study it. Keep in mind that these are my personal musings and thoughts supported by current research, but they are presented in character as Mystic Morning, who can be said to have at least studied it as a hobby.

Ultimately, the differences are skin (and bone structure) deep. The thoughts and motivations are drawn from a common source: my knowledge, inspiration, and personal musing, but will continue to presented in character, and contextualized appropriately.
