Buckle Up, Kids, It's Gonna Be A Busy October · 8:56pm Oct 9th, 2014

Lots of things going on this month! Are you ready kids? 'Cause I am! I've been waiting for this month to roll around for three of 'em, because I've got so much I want to do!

First thing's first: those of you who have been paying attention or just know me well are aware that I've been working on an 'October Special.' We're not quite there yet and I can't give out any ugly details – no matter how tempting it is, so don't ask! – but I can confirm that the stories will begin Friday the 17th. There will be three of them and all will be creepypasta. I do so love my creepypasta. Goes wonderfully with chills down the spine and a side-order of looking over the shoulder.

Second, I've got an entirely different 'October Special' planned for this Monday (the 13th). This one's been top-secret and I can say even less about it than the other project. All I will say is that it will be multiple stories in length, is a collaboration, and it will all come out this month. Nope, I can say no more! Stay tuned on Monday for the double-announcement and the first installment.

Last but not least, I have a new one-shot that's very recently hit me. True to my penchant for keeping mum on details, I will only specify that it will be a ScootaDash friendship (new territory for me) with a concept that I don't recall seeing on this site. Like, ever. At least not involving these two. I'm currently looking for artists who may create the cover, and I already know exactly what I want, but I'm looking for someone fast because I don't want this to take forever to come out. I've already had two of my ideas stolen by over-enthusiastic chumps (read: they beat me to the buck) and I don't want it happening this time!

Which leads to the downside: No Reddux update this weekend (and now you know why I tagged it). I'm going to take some time to write this new concept, and there's just no way I can get two chapters and a short story out in one week. So sorry, you three people who are reading it. Audience of One will be getting its weekly update, though, so don't you LunaTavia fans fret.

Yes, October is my favorite month. How'd you guess?

One more thing: stop what you're doing and read this. If you don't mind brutal stories, that is. With psychopathic main characters, tons of blood and beatings and misery. Oh, and brilliant writing style. You can hate everything about this story, but it's worth studying for the style of the writing alone. This is crapsack at its finest.

And now let me grace you with some nice art. Because I can.

No, this has nothing to do with any of the stories I'm writing this month. Just looked cool.

UPDATE

And I just found out that my mom's in the hospital. Doesn't sound like anything too serious, but I'll still be heading home to make sure. Don't worry, guys, I'll be back to writing horse words before you know it.

So whenever you noticed or not that I've been dead for the past two months, I just felt like saying I'm back! Anyway, back to something relevant to this blog post, ever since I decided to read Rainbow Factory, Creepypastas have become some of my personal favorites, unfortunately (at least for me) there seems to be a lack of well written ones, so I'll definitely be looking forward to those... If I'm able to read through the two months worth of story updates first and my read later list, which is my current short-term goal on this website as of now. :raritydespair:

Ah, you do exist. I did notice your silence, but I figured that you were simply being quiet. I tend to do that a lot – largely because I don't think most of what I have to say is all that interesting – but I'm getting better about it. Also, I wish two months was all it took to go through my RiL. The thought is laughable.

After all the hype and hoopla, I finally read Rainbow Factory. I was actually unimpressed. It felt too much like gore for the sake of gore. It didn't leave me on the edge of my seat, it didn't make my stomach churn, and it didn't fill me with disgust. I think part of it was how it was written, but I also didn't feel like the story within offered anything. Like Cupcakes.

I remember eyes without a face! Good story indeed. Not for the faint of heart though.

2521736
No, no it most certainly is not. I'm about 3/4 through it so far and I'm loving/hating every minute of it. It's kinda starting to feel a little long in the tooth, but that's okay.

And there's a semi-sequel Pagilicci. I'm afraid to read it.

2521685 Personally I agree with you on that, Rainbow Factory had too much gore, but it was what started my interest in creepypastas. Anyway currently I'm sitting at 1150 unread chapters in my favorites, and still 80 unread stories in my RiL, all of which are at least 50k-150k words, I don't think two months were enough. In case your curious I'm currently reading The Code of Harmony, it's really good, although to understand it, the story before it has to be read since its a sequel, and that's another 150k words, which took me about 7 hours of straight reading to finish yesterday.

went ahead and added Apprentice to my RiL. We shall see if it impresses... when I finally get to it.

You might find that these creepypastas are a little different. Maybe not. we shall see what you think of the first one come Monday. :rainbowdetermined2:

2521823
I am not, though it's going to end up at the bottom of my RiL and thus will take a while to get to.

2521844 Well then, when you finally get to Apprentice, prepare yourself for some crazy cultists AU religious stuff, but seriously that was one of the best reads I've had on this website, and so far the sequel hasn't really disappointed, it's a change of pace from the first, but it's still really interesting In my opinion. Also out of curiosity, just how long is your RiL as of now? It seems to me like its never ending and always growing.

2521889
At the moment I have 222 stories in my RiL, and it seems like I'm adding to it daily. It's not big in comparison to what some people have, but I force myself into a limited amount of daily reading that means it whittles away very slowly.

I've already had two of my ideas stolen by over-enthusiastic chumps (read: they beat me to the buck) and I don't want it happening this time!

What were these stories and where can I read them? Are these Creepypastas pony related?

2522177
I didn't write them because A) they weren't a top priority at the time and then B) someone else wrote stories with the same basic concepts first. So these stories don't exist save as ideas in my head. They include Octavia going on adventures to become an alicorn and an Octavia/Big Mac romance.

I might still do the Octavia/alicorn one, though, on the basis that I think it would be worth doing if I could get it right (plus, in my arrogance, I'm betting I could do it better than the other guy, even though I haven't read his variant yet).

2521823
I was unaware that the story even had a sequel. :rainbowkiss:

2521918
That's 327 if you do like I told you to an add the stories from the Pony Fiction Vault. And 383 stories if you add the 53 (at present) from the Royal Canterlot Library. (Did I ever mention them?)

THEY'RE ALL SO GOOD! :pinkiesad2:

2522246 Yep, theirs a sequel alright. I took one look at the cover and decided that I'm not going near that.

And the pony faults alright. It's not perfect, but its better than a lot of the collections out there. I just don't like how it has some fics in there for "historical significance". Because a lot of the "famous" fics out there aren't all that great. 2521685 Case in point: Rainbow Factory.

2522246
Yes, I know of the RCL. One of my little personal achievement goals is to get interviewed by them.

2522933
After the Vault announced its intentions to close up shop, a group of more renowned writers decided to found the Library in order to carry on in the Vault's work. I'm on their mailing list, so I check out the new features every Friday. If a story looks really good, I'll sometimes read 'em right then and there. Otherwise it goes into the ol' RiL. It's pretty nice. And getting featured in there is a lofty goal, but far from impossible. (Though getting onto EQD might help your chances, seeing as how three of the five Curators are EQD pre-readers.)
