Don't know if you guys have checked out the new features they added to individual story stats, but let the record show that Jub does not approve. My self-esteem is low enough without Fim providing numerical evidence to support my monumental insignificance.
I wonder if guys like Shortskirts jerk off while reading these new stats.
Ugh, life is difficult.
I have a tooth ache.

I think reading Game of Thrones made me a worse writer. I have no empirical data to back up this accusation, but I recently traded GoT for Watership Down and my writing improved almost overnight. Please note that I am in no way exalting Watership Down as the superior read, nor am I claiming that GoT is poorly written. The point of this blog is that Martin's masterpiece may have damaged my brain-parts, and it could potentially damage yours as well.

Lately I've been feeling conflicted about returning to Fim, because this place is starting to feel less like a support beam and more like a crutch. It's become familiar, safe and convenient. Almost nowhere else on the net--and perhaps the entire freaking planet--is it easier to publish fiction and gain a potential readership. And for that reason, it's a hard addiction to shake.
But the more I dwell on it, the more I feel I'll never really have a home here. I've said it before and I'll say it again now: I'm a terrible fanfiction writer. That's not to say my stories are awful, but there is nothing pony about them, nothing that resembles or reflects the canon that spawned them. In fact, my very first pony fic has always been something of an inside joke. While I took Eyes Without a Face very seriously during its creation, I only wrote it because the idea of making an ultra-violent, ultra-gritty pony fic amused me. I love MLP to pieces, but I've never had the slightest interest in creating a story that would feel at home in Equestria. I rarely ever use main characters in my fics, and my Manehattan, the setting in my two biggest stories, is completely different from its canon counterpart. I've basically been writing original fiction this entire time, so I figure I might as well make it official.
That said, did you guys know it's still impossible to delete your account on this site? I remember reading this message
Account deletion is not supported at this time.
way back in 2011, and figured they had corrected it by now. Does anyone know why they never fixed this? It's nothing to make a big deal out of, I was just curious.

It's official: writing smut is no longer fun. After raking in almost 500 bucks and cranking out something like 90k words of this crap, my playtime is starting to feel an awful lot like work. It was fun for a while, but after I finish these last few jobs I'm calling it quits, though probably not for good.
And who knows, I might even make a return to Fim ;).
See ya when I see ya.

The blog post is called Epiphany because I just had one. After writing lots of smut on the interwebs for lots interesting and unique and filthy, filthy people, I've conceded to a truth I once violently opposed.
Smut is better with a good story.
There. I said it, and I'm not saying again. And I don't want to read any smart ass remarks in the comment section, either.
Now leave me alone. I got work needs doin'.
