Halloween is Near! · 11:33pm Sep 15th, 2014
It's almost Halloween.
Okay no, it's almost two months away, but when you celebrate Halloween like I do, two months is damn close.
Halloween is the biggest holiday in my family. We decorate the first weekend of October, and we go all out. We probably have thousands of dollars worth of props and decorations and stuff. All shoved into a lot of boxes in my garage, pulled out once a year. However, this year is going to be like last year. I never mentioned it, but my aunt got a house that is perfect for decorating. We went out there last year and did up the front porch, set up a couple scenes and we even had a total of three actors (myself included) to wander around and scare the crap out of trick-or-treat-ers.
Long story short, Halloween is my favorite day of the year. This year I'm going all out on it; just yesterday I went and took pictures, measurements, and drew up a basic layout of the area I'm decorating. All this week I'll be going through my props and planning it all out. This year we'll only have two actors, but hopefully with a well thought out plan this time around it'll be much better. I'm going to be decorating over a couple days mid-October, and I'll post some before and after images here.
Still, that's a long ways away, and I have a lot of planning to do. I'm really excited though; the big Halloween store, Spirit Halloween, already has a location open here in Calgary and a second one is opening in two weeks. I've already been there and seen the amazing stuff they have. Unfortunately the best is way outside my price range (Some props are upwards of $200) but money has always been tight on Halloween for me so I learned to be... creative. I turned $15 worth of stuff into something that could be sold officially for $70.
Anyway, I'm hyped up for that, and if we an pull off what I'm already thinking about trying, It'll be worth it. I hope to get a fog machine this year, just on of the cheap ones for now. If I do it'll be the only thing we can get, but it's normally like that; one big purchase to add to the collection every year, and the collection just keeps growing an growing as I make and buy stuff.
Huh... guess I should do some story updates now. As you can tell, Imposter still isn't out. I've been putting it off, but it'll happen eventually. Missing Dreams is almost done, I just need to cap off scene, add one more, then edit and do a couple rewrites. I'm also planning out another big adventure fic. I'm not sure about actually writing it though; it's... well... its premise is... not original. At all. Everything in it has been done by someone else before me. But, I've never seen someone throw all the elements together and I've only seen one of the elements done well. It's still in the planning stage, but if I go through with it 'll officially have way too many stories being worked on at once and it would have to be the last new one I release until I start finishing them.
Ah well, just thinking for now. It is a premise I've been thinking about since I first started writing fanfiction. Oh, and I now have the Dreams box on my user page, contain both current installments of the Dreams series, both of which are currently my best chapter fics I think.
Anyone else hyped for Halloween? Any plans? Let me know; I'd love to hear how you all celebrate.
Until next time,
Kodeake out
I wait til November 1st and stuff myself with candy because all of it's on sale for like 75 percent off
They've had halloween stuff out for a couple weeks out already. Too damn early for that shit. It's like advertising for Christmas before Thanksgiving starts. It's rediculus.
But no plans yet. If my 11 year old cousin goes trick or treating I might volunteer to chaperone, steal some sweets from him. Or go bar crawling. Who knows, I don't plan that far ahead.
