I wouldn't play the "internet fame" card that hard, just to give you my personal opinion on the matter. My defunct webcomic is still listed as an example of a Groin Attack but it didn't really do anything.
No, getting a mention on a TVTropes article is just a stepping stone. When you have entire pages dedicated to your works? That's when you're getting somewhere with internet fame no matter how small.
