I've only just learned of Porter Robinson's music this year when he released that 10 hour long video announcing his debut full length album. I did listen to his "Spitfire EP" and while I do like it I wouldn't say it's one of my favorites. However, I was anticipating the release of "Worlds" anyway. This anticipation grew when he released it's first single "Sad Machine" which is a really good song and I'd definitely recommend listening to it.
Aaaaaanyway, "Worlds" ended up on NPR's First Listen a week before it's release date...which is nice. I've managed to listen to the whole album so I feel free to say what my first impressions are. I do plan on reviewing this album fully after another 1 or 2 listens. I can say, without a doubt, this is one of my favorite albums this year. I'm not quiet sure how to put my thoughts into words quiet yet but the songs on this album. For an EDM album it really isn't like EDM at all. Each song in this album conveys a lot more emotion than anything I've heard in EDM...probably ever. It's...atmospheric in a weird way...uplifting even.
Favorite Song: Sea of Voices
