So, I had a baby!
Beatrix "Trixie" Marie was born at 11:40 pm on July 28th. She's 21 inches long, and weighs 7lbs 13ozs. She was 10 days early, and had some respiratory problems that seem to be clearing up now. Those weren't really connected to her being early, she was close enough to be considered term. They're more likely related to me spending about 24 hours in labor (which was not helped by the doctors. Maybe at some point I'll write up everything that happened over the past three days.)
So, she ended up spending her first day in the nursery, with oxygen on, but I've been in to see her a bunch. So far all of her pictures are under the oxygen hood or with her tubes on, but she's coming off them soon, so I'll post a picture as soon as I have a good one of her beautiful face.
As for me, I hurt. Epidural is awesome at making the things you would think should hurt not really hurt that much (and I don't know how anyone ever gave birth without it) but that just emphasizes all the other ways that you hurt. Specifically, I feel like I spent an hour pushing with my legs as hard as I could against something I couldn't move. From the waist down I'm sore and bruised and cramped and swollen and it makes everything feel ten times harder then it should.
But right now, Trixie and I are both recovering and will probably be just fine in another day or two. And Trixie managed to be born on the same day as one of her namesakes, Beatrix Potter.
Finally, I want to thank every single person who responded to my previous post. There are many of you I want to get back to personally, but I don't know when I'll be able to do that. But you guys really made me feel better in the last few days of my pregnancy, and it goes to show why I love the community here. I'm definitely going to make sure it stays a part of my life going forward. Internet hugs for all of you.
Once again, I'll get you guys pics as soon as I have some good ones. Maybe later tonight.
Yaaaaaaay!! Congratulations!
OMFG!!!!!
Congrats!!!!
Congratulations BookPlayer! I know you'll make a great mother.
Congrats!
Congrats on the newest addition to the world!
Congratulations, and it appears your bookend and I share a birthday.
Congrats!
really no more words are needed
Oh my gosh! This is fantastic news!
I wish I had another word besides "congratulations," but I don't. So... Congratulations! I'm happy to hear that everything turned out okay in the end!
Congratulations
Sounds like you had a "pleasant" time at the hospital. Doctor horror stories are always fun; I hope you share with the class.
The doctor who delivered my brother was actually quite late; my mother threatened to do so without him to one of the nurses when he kept not showing up. Always the best way to make sure that they get there now.
Of course, this kid has a multitude of potential nicknames. And will probably take many years before she gets why people calling her "kiddo" always giggle.
Glad to hear you're alright.
Congratulations!
Congratulations!
Congratulations!
and good luck on the new mother hood status.

Congratulations!
Congratulations, Em!
I'm glad to hear you and Trixie are doing well. The news brightened up an already good day for me. 24 hour labor is no joke, though. Yeesh. Rest well and enjoy your new arrival.
Congratulations! And I love the name!
So happy to hear that everything went okay in the end! It was a long road and you got to welcome your beautiful baby girl into the world with a smile and opening arms. I hope for many happy and healthy days ahead for you and your family. Congratulations!

Squeee!
Congratulations! Here's to the health of child and mother both[1]! May you both look back on this day with joy a hundred years hence.
And welcome to the world, little Beatrix. I can't promise it will ever make sense, but I can promise virtually unlimited amounts of awesome. It's a big, big world out there with everything in it and room to spare.
[1] Ghost has broken out the 'special occasions' brandy. This may explain the tone of this post.
A hundred and twenty-nine congratulations!
Congrates! Hopefully you didn't have to get a C-section. Doctors can be overly aggressive with those.
So she isn't premature? That's good. Now you just need to relax and also keep an eye out for postpartum depression. My cousin had that and it crippled her for a while.
Congratulations
Congratulations. I'm sorry to hear it didn't go as well as it could have, but I'm glad it went well overall.
Congrats bud. God bless you and the baby. I wish you both a lot of long, loving years together.
A simple seems to fit here.
Congratulations!
Wishing you and Beatrix a full and speedy recovery.
Congratulations, bookplayer!
Congrats!
Welcome to the best and most harrowingly wonderful time of your life - and hers! Good show, Em.

Well, hot damn, so much congratulations to you! Glad everything went well and I can't wait to see a picture of your new joy.
Heh, also can't wait until the inevitable story now that you've added this experience to your checklist.
Be well and recover fully and God bless this new wonder!
Congratulations, and happy zeroth birthday to little Trixie.
*WolfGrin* happy B-day Little One and may you have 1000 more!!!!!!
Congratulations!
Congratulations! How soon should we be sending the hats and capes?
Gratuconlations!
Congratulations to you and Beatrix! And congrats on the coincidental birthday! And I shall hope she recovers from her breathing troubles soon.
Congrats! And I hope you raise her to believe in Twixie, the second best Twilight ship. Also, if you ever decide to have a kid, I'd be very, very wary about using Epidural ever again. While it may help with the pain, it's literally made to make you partially addicted so you can continue using more and more Epidural until you are paying good amounts of money, and it's not necessarily that good for you.
This is all from my health teacher who has had a normal, hospital birth and a natural birth (where you have a midwife and also birth your baby in water (which is not bad because the baby's lungs do not open until you sever the umbilical cord)). I believe, though I have really no say considering I'm a male, that a natural birth would do you far better.
But let's not dwell on that. It's a controversial topic, but I just thought I'd inform you AT LEAST about Epidural. THAT'S a fact. Natural births are up in the air.
Also, do you know if there are any chances of her developing asthma due to the complications? I believe the doctors would have said something. I'd be wary of that as well. Kids at a young age have asthma the worst. I know because I loved with it. XP It's no fun, and asthma attacks are truly terrifying.,

She was born with them.
2327747 a thousand more? <---given the child's name this emoticon is doubly appropriate.
Amazing news! Congratulations to both of you.
We need to celebrate your birthday, baby! Happy happy birthday, to yo-

Ha, another baby who thought August birthdays are overrated, I know that feeling well. Congrats on a bouncing baby girl, and hopefully she won't cause too many grey hairs!
Woohoo!
Yay! Babies!
Congratulations to the newest Great and Powerful (vocally) Trixie, and of course, the Great and Powerful Mommy. One of our twins (our third and fourth kids) was exactly that same weight, and the other slightly larger (38 weeks), and I have to admit, epidurals are the way to go. I didn't feel a bit of pain. Of course the wife experienced a little discomfort....
Congratulations!
Congratulations!

Congratulations! Many blessings for you and your family!
