Bronycon, Shattered Kingdoms, & A Plug for a New Past Sins Movie Project · 4:49pm Jul 26th, 2014
Bronycon looms just next week, and I look forward to the fact I once again get to attend this year. So I hope to see lots of friends and to meet anyone new. One person asked in e-mail if I'd be willing to sign his/her copy of Past Sins while I'm there. I'm totally cool with doing that for anyone that asks, just be sure to have a pen since there is no guarantee I'll remember to have one.
As to Bronycon itself, I get to be on three panels this year. The last one I'll speak about in greater length, but the first two are writing panels. I'll be returning properly to the panel I kind of snuck onto last year, the Do's and Don't of Fanfiction. I'll also be on the Worlds Beyond: Crossovers in Fanfiction panel, both on Saturday. In fact, all three of my panels are on Saturday this year it would seem. It makes for a very interesting day.
Now, as for the last panel, it is for a project I've been contributing to as a partial-writer as well as a story adviser. That project is "Shattered Kingdoms" and I'll be on the panel with several other members of the development team. Shattered Kingdoms is a game project that has been going on for several months now. The team lead, Gremlin Grenade, has a blog post from Fiesta Equestria last year that tells a lot more about the project then I can really fit into such a multi-purpose blogpost.
Now not only is the development team having a panel this year, but there will be a live demo of the game available to play. I believe it will be in the Baltimare Arcade room, since it's the only electronic game room I'm aware of, but I'm sure Gremline Grenade will post up a blog soon with more information on what the demo will contain and verify where it can be played.
Also, the team is looking for more writers to fill out its ranks and to ensure the story is as polished and properly complex as possible. So if you have any interest, drop Gremlin Grenade or come see us at our panel. The time and place are below, along with the time and place of my other two panels.

Again, I hope to see a lot of you there, and I'll see if I can't do something to make myself easily identifiable. (Besides the fact I basically wear the same outfits to every convention :P. Saturday I'll be sure to save my Applejack shirt and red, plaid short-sleeve button-down shirt.)
And to wrap up this blog post, a commenter on Past Sins point out a new animation project that is starting to get underway. Someone new has begun a project to make Past Sins into an animated feature. It takes a lot of effort for someone to get far enough to even have a teaser trailer for something like this, so go give these guys some love and get hyped. (Especially because their design for Night Stone Castle looks pretty amazing!)

EDIT: To clarify some misconceptions in the comments, I am not doing the movie. Just giving a plug to the guys/gals who are.
Someone is making Past Sins into a movie? That is a dream I have, to be able to take my favorite stories, and make them into movies. I am guessing I can scratch one fic from the list though, where as someone is already on that project. I shall have to talk with the people who are doing this, so I can receive guidance.

Past Sins movie? As much as I was like to see that as a thing, I'm worried of it being a Cease and Desist magnet.

I sent a message to Gremlin Grenade. I'd love to join in on the team, considering that I want to write for games one day. If I don't get that chance, oh well. Doesn't hurt to try!

I almost died when I saw Nyx in the bush. So looking forward to see this movie. Also why did the older Nyx uses a keyblade

I unfortunately do not think it looks very promising... They have certainly worked very hard on it, and it does look good, but here is why I don't think it'll succeed:
1) They only have like... three people on their team. That means the entirety of the project is being done by them. This also means they have no voice actors.
2) The teaser only used sound clips from other animations and from the show itself. They have not developed their own yet.
3) Tying Into 1 here, they have not gotten any voice actors on their team yet. Normally a teaser is done once the whole team is together and working on the project. Then while you're already creating bits for the movie and what not, you throw some of it together into a teaser that looks good to help draw attention. The way they presented this, with the lack of original sound clips and lack of any voice actors in the team, makes me think they made this teaser first, and it was not bits of the movie put together to form a teaser. This means the movie itself is no where near being ready, and with a team of only three, it's gonna take them years to do it.
I'm not trying to be pessimistic... I love Past Sins and the idea of a movie would fly with me so hard... I just would want it to be done RIGHT. I do wish them luck... I just think that they are really gonna need it. V_V

And I hear they may do a second printing. I seriously hope so, because I wish to purchase a copy for a friend of mine as a gift to her. She read my copy, and loved it!
Shattered Kingdom does sound promising as it takes some things from Shattered Union. Hopefully this recent movie project makes it farther than the other one I have seen. Looking forward to both.

I am really looking forward to seeing this, Past Sins is a really great and amazing Story and it finally gets a movie which I am excited to see is in the making. Great job on the trailer Everypony that is making the movie and made the trailer.

I am not going to be on a Friday panel, but I'll try to announce here someplace I'll be so you can try to catch up with me. There is usually a room for fan fiction fans to hang out in. So I'll try to sit in there at a specific time I'll try to announce Friday morning. I believe the room is normally called Quills and Sofas.
Okay, And thank you I am a really big fan of a lot of your novels especially Past Sins which has grown to be my favorite fimfiction story.
