    Compter Upgrade Fund... I hope.

Alright everypony, here's the deal. I don't exactly NEED a new computer yet, but I don't expect this one to last forever. That said, I'm kinda in a place where I really can't afford to do anything about it at the moment. I lost my job back in Feburary, and haven't been able to find another one just yet. I'm still looking around, but everything is on hold since I'm moving

    Everfree Northwest 2014 Wrap Up!

Okay, I have to start with totally non-pony stuff. In doing my normal morning internet check I stumbled across a post about the Original Nintendo GameBoy turning 25 this week. I remember when they first came out, along with the original NES console (which, for the record, I owned). Sweet Celestia, do I feel old now. But enough of that. ONWARD TO PONIES!

Everfree Northwest 2014 Wrap Up! · 6:07pm Jul 8th, 2014

First, I should point out this forum post written by one of the attendees to everypony because it expresses why this fandom is so great to begin with:

This was my first convention of any kind, and I was blessed to share it with my daughter who is 8 and loves my little pony as much as I do. I want to say thank you so much for providing such an amazing convention for us. It was an amazing experiance, and we didnt have a single negative experiance. We enjoyed the panels, the vendor hall, the guests, and all of the beautiful, kind hearted welcoming, friendly, and dear bronies and pegasisters. Even though we were a little embarrassed to move to the front of a long line of people because my daughter is a foal, we didnt hear a single complaint, and actually received cheers and encouragement from the attendees! We had an amazing time. My favorite panel was ask a princess. I thought it was going to be a light hearted humorous event. I had no clue it was going to be so touching and personal. Thank you all for sharing your stories. I am so glad my daughter got to hear how the show has affected so many people. I want her to grow up brave, and bold like all of you there. This was such an emotional experiance, thank you all for not being afraid to be who you are.

The the short version is that I-- *zzzzzzzzzzzzzz *mumble mumble* zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz* -- was on staff for EFNW and had a totally EPIC time there, even if I didn't-- **faceplants on desk** *zzzzzzzzzzzzz* -- didn't get much sleep. As part of the AV staff (shout out to all my fellow guys behind the scenes as well — Latent Logic, Eclpise, Joe, and all the others whose names I can't remember) I can testify that we were all pretty busy but everyone did an amazing job. Ponystock was so totally worth all the effort.

I also got to add my advice to a couple of the writing panels, so that was fun. I hope that ponies got some good info on how to get in touch with other people in the community from "Fanfiction: The Community and You", some good pointers on polishing their work from "Literary Merit", and a little better understanding of "How to Write A Hero". The other panels were also great. Especially "How to Write a Villan & The Redemption of Evil" which was standing room only. Also a shout out to my fellow panelists, Piquo Pie, Horizon, BronyWriter, Xepher, and GaryOak. Y'all were great! Special thanks to Georgia Ball (IDW comic Princess Celestia miniseries author) for her input on "How to Write a Hero".

The vendor hall was busy every day and there was tons of great art and other merchandise. Kinda bummed I didn't get to spend a lot of money. I did mange to pick up a copy of Twilight Sparkle's Secret Shipfic Folder though! Such a fun game! Pixel Prism did an amazing job on the artwork. Too bad that there wasn't one about Bon Brawn needing an assistant... (And a special thanks to Pixel for that commission once again. The shirts came out really nice.)

Ponystock was totally amazing, although I did miss the first day. My favorite sets were Garnika and Stars in Autumn. I don't even have words to describe it, so I'm not gonna try.

Cosplay. Wow. Just, wow. Breathtaking fursuits for several ponies, along with other costumes that were just as good. And while perhaps not the best one I've ever seen from a technical standpoint, the little foal (who couldn't be more than 6 or 7) was the best. Sweetie Adorabelle was just great!

You can find many more pictures on the Meetup Group for EFNW here.

All things considered, I'm both very sad (because all the other ponies and interaction was so much fun) and yet so happy (since it means I can get some sleep now) that things had to come to a close. Special thanks to Royal Coat for his work as Chairpony, and even though he's stepping down I hope he stays with us for years to come. Best of luck to Bejoty and Scorched Wing as they take up the mantle next year. Y'all are gonna have some big shoes to fill.

Okay, I'm back off for bed.

It was cool meeting you and your comma-destroying ways, though I'm slightly sad you forgot I worked with you. :applecry: I'll definitely have some more chats with you about grammar and stuff in the future. :pinkiehappy:

I didn't. But Eclipse, Latent, and Joe were the ones that I was most directly involved with. You also did a great job.

2267089 also, yes, that sweetie belle was insanely cute.

EFNW was fantastic this year. Being on panels with fine gentlemen such as you was both incredible and invigorating. I can't wait to do this all again at the end of May next year!

Con 1 wap-up, con 1 wrap up! :pinkiehappy:

Next; CON 2!!! :trollestia:

Just like that person you quoted, this was my first pony convention too. (2nd convention in gereral) I had a great time too, better than I was expecting. I plan on going again next year.

That sweetie belle interrupted a pony game show I was watching. The audience was so happy to see her. She got so many hugs. :yay:

It was nice to meet you at EFNW. I was at pretty much all the writing panels (I loved that there was a big writing track this year!) and I thought you did really well with them. I got a lot of good takeaways out of everything and, of course, tons of FUN! :pinkiehappy:

Last night my brain was still dreaming about contest entries, panel organization, and all the other stuff it's been saturated with over the weekend. I wonder how long it takes to detox from staff-stress. :pinkiecrazy:

Stress aside, had a great time, and my only complaint is that this is only once a year!

To be honest, I don't know I could take doing that more often. So much fun, but so much stress. fc05.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2014/013/8/b/derpilee_by_comeha-d7213zo.png
