So not gonna lie: the last few days have been just that.
Before I explain myself, lemme quell any worries: I'm just fine, I'm not distraught or depressed, just...kinda sad these little rides are over.
First off: Firefly, the series about cowboy smugglers in space. My GF got me interested in it and in a few short weeks we burned through it and its movie Serenity.
Now I think I understand the hype a little more, as well as why people were so angry and saddened when the series ended the way it did. And it's not likely to ever be continued except in written/comic form (though I have heard of an online RPG being developed...)
It was a great little gem of a series and I can honestly say I was never bored (though often confused by the snappy dialogue), and was thoroughly entertained.
Yes I know I can watch it over and over again, but...well, it just wouldn't the be the same as the first time.

Anyways, second bittersweet thingy:
I finally, months later than I wanted to, finished The Life and Times of a Winning Pony by the awesome Chengar Qordath. It's not the longest story I've finished reading here on Fimfiction (that title goes to "My Second Life" which was ended prematurely and one you will have to dig for to find here on Fimfiction), but it's the lengthiest completed story I've read here on the site and one that's had the greatest influence on my own writing in the form of the character that Chengar wrote in Cloud Kicker.
Full of humor, witty dialogue, memorable characters, and more one-liners than you can shake a bushel of sticks at, I can't recommend this story any higher. Yes I know there are a load of other stories in the Winningverse, but like Firefly, they just won't be as great as the first.

So ahem, anyways. Time to shake off these bittersweet memories though! I'm going to embark upon something I've never done before: reading Blue Angel not for edits, not for notes, but FOR PLEASURE.

So yeah, gonna re-read the whole thing for a refresher and for pleasure. No edits, no criticisms. Just reading. If anything, it'll give my work schedule a chance to settle down after the July 4th holiday madness. Once that's done, I'll pound out the next chapter.

Funnily enough, it was actually Blue Angel that got me to go look at Winning Pony
) way she's normally portrayed. And now I've read basically all the Winningverse, and am waiting with baited breath for Lunar Rebellion to update. It's right up there with Blue Angel for my favorite stories on fimfiction.

2261444 Honestly, that is almost entirely nonexistent within the context of that story so you should be fine. Yes it is a thing, but Rainbow is not a focus and Pinkie almost never appears so it does not matter.
That said, it does dip into some seriously stupid shit once the changelings show up to the point that it is my go-to example of why the hive mind is bad for a story, but that is no reason not to read the first few chapters. Besides, you can skim over the stupid parts without loosing anything important.

well i suppose there is that, but after skimming the tvtropes page and reading about certain injuries Dash sustains throughout, it kinda put me off. Actually made me feel ill. Regardless I don't doubt its a great fic, but i think i'll pass.

I powered through Blue Angel in three days. I spent pretty much every waking moment reading it. Worth it though!
2261463 I'm honestly not sure what you are talking about. The only major injury I remember Dash getting was in the backstory, and that was intended to be shocking. Granted it was honestly probably overdone, but it is not a major factor and does not come up for a while. The only other injuries were during the changeling stupidity, but that whole section is very skippable so I do not really count them.
I got myself into Terminator Sarah Connor Chronicles... fell in love with what they did there for both seasons. And then I found out there was never going to be new episodes again

2261444 I'm not a big fan of shipping inside the mane six either, but don't worry, D48 is right. PinkieDash is such a tiny miniscule detail that is mostly just mentioned every now and then before fading into oblivion later on through the story. In regards to Dashie's injuries...they are a bit heartbreaking but don't look at it like she's forever screwed, look at it in that she is strong enough to power through them and she is still the amazing mare we all know and love. Life and Times is a very good read and I highly recommend it.
It's almost better than Blue Angel, No offense V-Pony
