    Author update!

I'm editing stuff! But also incredibly dried out of writing power atm. I'll get going again soon, but just bear with me for a bit. I'm publishing a chapter of XCOM today, then start on the daily writing (not publishing) again tomorrow morning. In the meantime, always remember:

    Remembering Koji Wada

Like every year, I like to remember the man/legend responsible for the theme songs of one of my favorite shows of all time on the anniversary of his death.

So if you were wondering about the timing for the latest Isekai chapters? There you go.

    Welp, here's a life update

These last couple of weeks have been a bit of a rollercoaster. Good things have happened, and also bad ones. No wonder I could relate to both Furina and Navia in the latest Isekai chapter. Sometimes pretending things are fine is really exhausting, even if they do get better.

Update to the Isekai coming tonight! And some additional details and change of plans.

First, to everyone waiting patiently for the next Isekai chapter, I apologize for the delay. I know there are a lot of people that want to see another visit to Hell happen soon, and it will, I promise. However, due to some circumstances, I decided for a different pair of visitors to visit the bar this week.

So, I saw a pegasus that shall remain anonymous make this comment... · 11:18pm Jul 2nd, 2014

[...]All of the people with over 2000 followers have a 'flagship' story. A story that you can sort of say is what got them the most popularity. Pen Stroke has Past Sins. SS&E has Background Pony and some others. Aegis Shield has whatever he wrote. I have whatever I wrote. But as you go further down the list, it stops being 'this person is popular because of just one story' and more a case that the writer in question has picked a subject and stuck with it. Dawnfade has all that clop. Wanderer D has the Three Sisters series. Darf has all that clop. Rainbow Bob works mainly on comedy. Bronywriter has... stuff.[...]

(Bold added by me.)

And it made me wonder...

Is "The Three Sisters" really my flagship story or series? I'm really not offended by the implication that I've stuck to TTS, but I always thought I was more known for "The Empty Room" or "The Sweetie Chronicles" with "The Three Sisters Series" being my third 'main' thing, followed by the random stories of all genres I've thrown out.

I guess his point isn't necessarily as literal as I'm taking it here in the context of what he was saying while discussing followings and such, but it did sorta make me stop and think about it.

So, what do you think guys? Do I have a flagship at all? Or am I Commodore WD?! With my own fleet of... wait, I would still have a flagship in that case. Nevermind. Or would you say that I'm more of a kaleidoscopic entity with one point of origin that expands into a gamma of different hues?

Edit: I guess this also begs the question: In your opinion, do I stay with a single theme as he's saying?

I think it is, D, it's super popular AND you did lots of spinoffs too, so it's one of the things people remember when they think of you.

EDIT: It SHOULD be for 'The Empty Room', of course. But what should and what is never match up

I actually remember you from "the changeling queen". love that story by the way.:pinkiehappy:

Dawnfade has all that clop.

What?

I definitely knew you for Empty Room first and then Sweetie Chronicles second, although SC is what I'd really call your flagship.

I knew you for Empty Room way back in the day

2252196 Yeah, if anything, DawnFade definitely has a one-hit-to-rule-them-all flagship in University Days.

I first saw TER, but at that time I think it was about the only thing you'd written.

I'd have to say that you're the alicorn of writing.
You have three equal, yet different stories that power you(r popularity).
Each are different, yet good reads all the same.

In all honesty while I consider TER my single most favorite piece of fan fiction and among some of my favorite books, I have never read any of your other "serious" stories.
Though I think that has more to do with my generally not being too fond of Sweetie Bell or really any of the other foals.

Oh and I imagine it goes without saying but I very much look forward to when you get the chance to return to the rewrite.

2252203
At 5k thumbs, yeah, I should think.

I would have said The Sweetie Chronicles was your flagship story, no question. The prologue alone has nearly as many views as the original Three Sisters story, so I would be very surprised if it wasn't your most viewed story by far once all the other chapter views are added in.

Not that most views absolutely equals most significant, but it's gotta mean something.

If you ask me, your must emblematic Story is "The Empty Room", Followed closely by "The Sweetie Chronicles".

But I have to admit I haven't read everything you wrote. I Recently found you "Saints" Story, (and i'm hoping some day you may retake it cause I love Saint Seiya), Probably whoever ,made that comment haven't read all you work.

I read The Empty Room first, and I didn't even realize it was by you until I had favourited The Sweetie Chronicles. I think the 'flagship' thing only applies to authors who have one or two really popular stories that drew a lot of attention (and most of those only in the earlier days of the fandom). They gained followers from those stories, and as those stories became communal touchstones, they were the things that got remembered.

Anyways, D, I would say that this person mentioned The Three Sisters because that's what they read first, so that's what they remember when they see your name. Just like I would probably go to TSC as your exemplar story.

Kaleidoscopic entity with one point of origin that expands into a gamma of different hues

That's you alright, Commodore! Although the way I see it, your flagship (for the sake of argument we will name her the good ship SS Sweetie Chronicles) has over time taken more of a backseat role, drifting behind the fleet as all those Three Sisters stories invade the feature box over and over.

Ouch, I took that metaphor too far. What I mean is, The Sweetie Chronicles and The Empty Room are both quite old now and quite a lot of peeps here weren't around when you started it -- you probably have a whole legion of fans who were first introduced to you through the Three Sisters verse, and who watch you mainly for that. Or at least that's what I'm guessing.

I think of your flagship as being more of a wibbly-wobbly ball of horsey-pony... stuff...

And IDK. I think of you as a Latias, so pluck if I know what the hail your flagship is!

Or am I Comodore WD?! With my own fleet of... wait, I would still have a flagship in that case. Nevermind.

imma call you Comodore now.
it's never gunna leave my head.....

I haven't read your "Three Sisters" series, and I promise that I'll get to them, but your recent Octavia story was so beautifully written that I had to check out some of your other short stories, which were also excellent. If your "Three Sisters" series is your flagship work in your opinion, then it shall be your flagship work. I'm just here for the quality writing. :pinkiehappy:

Only story I can say is your flagship would be Chronicles, but I'd more or less think that because of how large it has become. I need to read Three Sisters (it's in my TRL) to make a better judgement, I guess.

Y'know, by the numbers, it may very well be that TTS is your flagship over TER and TSC. Could just be a matter of one's entry into the tepid waters of fanfiction reading that determines one's associations though... iunno. Always gonna be TER associated in my brain meats with the Wandy.

(also... I guess I should, um, read TTS at some point besides that... yeah... maybe)

Well, I came for The Three Sisters, stuck around for the sequels, and was hooked by The Sweetie Chronicals. So I'd really have to say that TSC is your flagship.

I feel TSC is your favored story, but, well, if I'm honest, the first story of yours I read was TTS. I really started watching you for your how-to-write-and-not-be-a-total-moron blogposts.

Well, it's the first story I would associate you with if I thought of you, so I would say it is.

I'm only here for TER.

I wouldn't know which one to call your 'flagship', if indeed the term can be applied. TER came first (as far as I know), but TSC and TTS have far more views/likes/faves/[insert metric here]. I don't really know what else to say about them because I haven't read any of them (nothing personal, just not my cuppa hot cocoa). I followed you for your witty 'how to not suck at fimfic' guides, not your stories.

I think he was guessing by watching the feature box. The smaller, more frequent, updates would make it more noticeable.

Clearly you are a hydra.

I thought you were more known for TSC, but I follow you for TTS.

Whoo, comedy for Bob! :pinkiehappy:
Also I think your flagship is more along the lines of The Sweetie Chronicles because that shit is tight, yo, and I prefer it more than Three Sisters in my opinion. :twilightsheepish:

I've read everything within the Three Sisters vein, and it's why I followed you, but I've sadly read little else of yours. Mostly waiting for TSC to finish and to have a list of/read all the stories it crosses before I dive into that.

I read TER first, and that's what I know you for, well that and amusing blog posts about people who are idiots or jerkfaces. ~<3

Flagships can change. I'm pretty sure The Empty Room would have been your flagship, but now I consider it to be The Sweetie Chronicles. Is that just because it's my favorite of your stories? Maybe, but I'm sure that size and scope have something to do with it too.

Honestly, though, I'm not sure that quote is quite right. It seems to me that one of the requirements of having a large number of followers is to have multiple stories—specifically a habit of starting new ones. Sure, blog posts might factor into a following if you're big on that, but I think for a writer, the main reason for followers would be for new-story-notifications, and nobody cares about those if you only have a flagship.

I believe the first story if yours that Ireadwas the Changeling Queen. The real reason I decided to follow you is thatvyou were closely involved with the running of this site., and might have something to say worth hearing. I haven't been disappointed.

I read the Empty Room, and found it pretty flat, so stopped after the first few chapters (although I haven't checked out the rewrite yet). I thought the Three Sisters stunk by the end, and I haven't read any of the sequels, spin-offs, or spin-off sequels. SB Chronicles I'm afraid to approach, since I know I'll have the urge to try and read everything it crosses over with, and I haven enough old stuff I need to get to.

You know, I don't really remember what all I've readt
that you did :twilightblush:. Huh, I shpuld probably read more and stop playing IL-2 as often....

Anyway, Flagship or no, sticking to one plot line or not, your stuff is still good to read (well, I think so. Been sleep deprived for a few days. too much games, not enough bed by 10:00 instead of 4:00)

Bronywriter has... stuff.[...]

Yes, he definitely has that... :twilightoops:

Anyway.

I always thought that of your three primaries, TSC seemed the more popular, but I stand by The Empty Room as my favorite of your works regardless. As for staying within the same theme... I guess if 'unduely insane adventure with both incredibly dark lows and great comedic highs' counts, then yes.

Empty Room is what pointed me in your direction, but I would say that TSC is your flagship story.

Can't say I've read The Empty Room. And I've stopped reading even Sweetie Chronicles and TTS stuff... Then again, I've stopped reading a lot of stuff lately. Been on one of 'those' kicks lately. :twilightblush: I'm just here for your awesome blogs! :pinkiehappy:

You're a bit like Stephen King, from my point of view. I may not read your stories (any more in your case), but your stuff on writing is insightful and dear to my little, bitter heart.

So, to me, your Flagship Series: Your Blogs. :pinkiehappy:

That and perhaps the Sweetie Cronicles. Yes... i've mostly come for the three sisters because i like changeling stories.

Three Sisters is okay, I guess. The Empty Room and Sweetie Chronicles drew me, sooooo.....

The Empty Room was what got my attention span, short as it sometimes is, to notice you. So for me, it is, always has been, and always will be your flagship.:rainbowdetermined2:

And look who's back to being a Moderator. I guess you couldn't make yourself step away from The Power for long, huh? Once a Moderator, always a Moderator.:ajsmug:

2252504 You haven't read The Empty Room? You might want to remedy that. Sure, some parts of it are fairly dark, but it has a very satisfying conclusion.

Besides, it might give you some inspiration for Myths and Birthrights.

I like The Empty Room more, but what he's saying probably have some merit given how people and approval tend to work.

I was here for Empty Room and Sweetie and haven't read any of the Three Sisters stories.

Interestingly, some of the authors the pegasus mentioned don't have as many... "epic series" running. Pen Stroke wrote Past Sins... then kinda slowed down, and wrote a few shorter stories. RainbowBob and Darf have (I assume) a lot of themed shorts. Skirts has both Background and EoP, but EoP as of late has stalled, and he hasn't really written anything as massive compared to them besides shorts (besides maybe Austrae
You, however, have 3 big epics to your name: Empty Room, Sweetie, and Sisters. Makes you a bit more diverse, don't cha think?

Well, I know you for The Three Sisters and haven't read your other two, so I must inform you of this fact, but I don't think I should give an opinion.

Sweetie Chronicles is the first thing I think of when I consider your writing.

I'm pretty sure your flagship is TSC, man. Kinda helps that it crosses over with popular stories, and even the other stuff you've written like TER will show up in it. Come to think of it though, most of your stories above 1000 likes start with 'The'. Maybe there's a pattern?

Speaking only for me, I've read some (but not all) of your Three Sisters stories and liked them, but never actually read TSC or the Empty Room.

The main reason for not touching The Empty Room is because I tend to really dislike any story tagged [tragedy] on this site, with few exceptions. Add to this that I don't stop reading a story even if I'm hating it (with only one exception up to now, a Cupcakes style one that was mistakenly rated Teen), and I'm not willing to even start with a 150K words story tagged [tragedy].
(The secondary reason being that certain kinds of experiences can completely turn me away from other works by the same author; there are two authors on this site that I can't bring myself to read anything from, even if I think the story will be good, one of them being SS&E due to how I hated the ending of Background Pony. I don't want this to extend to how I see other authors, so if I have even a shade of a chance that I will react to an author's work that negatively, I simply won't read it.)

TSC I never touched because it's both incomplete and references a huge amount of other fics. I'm likely to only read it after I've read every fic it references, and either it's complete or I've read most of the complete fics on my read later list.
