Children of Skytree Update: Music Included · 7:56pm Jun 16th, 2014

Cover-art done entirely by me, for once.

Two blogs in one month; hard to believe, I know, but until I have the website running that you voted in favor of, this is how I will have to keep the most of you informed. Hopefully that day isn't too far along.

Now on to business. Some of you (a very small few) might recall a long time ago when I mentioned a prologue for an unnamed project. Unnamed at that time, anyways. Even fewer of you probably got the chance to read it, but I remember hearing good things from those of you who did.

You might also recall me mentioning Children of Skytree, or more simply CoS, in recent blogs as well. It is still planned to become Cavalry Studios' first group project, and to undergo a greater media transformation than just what you are used to seeing from myself and ye olde Christopher Bowling, formerly known to you as Socratic Brony.

Typically the way you have seen us do things, I will do the writing, and Chris will make tracks for moments in the stories which he has enjoyed. Usually, the buck stops there, and so far neither of us have actually produced either a full-length story (novel-length, rather) or a full-length OST to said story. As for Chris and his OST work, I can only say that I am more impressed than ever.

The first track of Children of Skytree's official OST was completed late last night and posted to Chris' bandcamp. The main "theme" to CoS is arguably the OST's most important piece. However, this is only one of two or perhaps even three mastered versions of the theme expected to play across the course of the album, each with a different orchestra and tempo behind the familiar melody to capture key moments in the story.

If you are as excited as I am to listen to more Christopher Bowling exclusives, you can find the song on his bancamp, right here. You can also click the album art at the top of the page, as usual.

Moving on, Children of Skytree is intended to be very different in terms of our media presentation. Though it will be seeing story work by myself, and full composition by Chris, this project has no intention of stopping short as songs on Youtube and simple words on a page. These things have served the two of us well as specialists in the past, but CoS is more than that. We have yet to set a production deadline for our "five-minute" long pilot, but we intend to take this story and turn it into an animated series.

We are still in the process of finding cooperative talent, though we do have a well-rounded base group already dedicated to assisting us. The process is slow but steady; some who have pledged themselves to the project are dealing with life struggles and will be unable to commit immediately, and some have more daunting tasks within the project than others. Though I'm the primary writer for the series, I doubt incredibly if my task can be considered more difficult than those of the concept artists, animators, or musicians. Since those with a passion for this project are working on it on their time, with no paycheck to show for it (yet), we are not interested in pushing them, and we believe that it will be ready when it is ready.

With any luck, you will see that "five-minute" pilot on a Kickstarter page in the future. With more luck still, you will see that pilot become as many animated episodes as it takes to bring the story to completion.

For now, the story has its lengthy prologue, first, and second chapters completed. I intend, and expect, to complete chapters three and four later this week, and should easily manage one or two chapters every subsequent week, even with my ongoing work on other projects. And of course, as you can see, the OST is only just beginning, with many other tracks planned to bring this tale a plethora of stirring melodies.

I look forward to sharing the hype with you all.

Best regards,
Aaron.

Disclaimer:
The five-minute pilot is not likely to actually be five minutes long, it's just our best estimate of the content at this time.
