This One's Actually About Writing · 12:51am Nov 25th, 2015

No really, I promise. The only link you'll find in this blog is to a prologue (unedited and uncut) that I've decided to share. A long, long time ago, many of you expressed an interest in my writing itself, rather than my pony content. I've written plenty of non-fanfic stuff since then, but nothing that I felt comfortable releasing publicly: most of what I've worked on in recent years has been content designed for personal publication, or so I hope someday, so releasing it in any form is a no-go.

A lot of other things have just been short works that weren't going to turn into anything that might hold a reader's attention, or that I would ever complete: afternoon musings on paper, let's say. I didn't really feel compelled to show those off either, since they weren't more than passing fancies.

This one is different. After writing it, I got pretty attached to it, and I've been thinking about the world it's set in non-stop, and itching to write more. The holiday weekend might not offer me the time, but it shouldn't be too long before I can get another chapter finished. Anyways, I figured I would pass it along to interested parties.

Since it is unedited, I left permissions open on the document to leave comments: it's in a GDoc, for convenience. If you find any hiccups, feel free to highlight them and let me know.

You can find the prologue to a new story called Leyline right here.

For those of you who can't seem to find the short links I prefer to leave in my blogs, you can also find it in this absurdly long one, which I only made absurdly long so that you would see it without any issues.

I won't explain much about it, I'll let the prologue do some of the talking and help get you thinking, if you read it. I will warn you that the prologue has no action hook or drama: it's supposed to be more chill, so let me know what you think of it by PM or something if you enjoy it, or don't.

Also, since FimFiction isn't really a place for me to be doing this consistently on, I'll have to find another way to begin sharing my works in the future. I've been considering Patreon, so I might go that route if people seem up to it. If not, I may try to post up some sort of quick-and-dirty .tk website or something and self-host for a little while until I can get an online writing career together for real.

That's the gist of it. If you have anything to say about the prologue or the whole bit about Patreon or self-hosting, I'm happy to hear your opinions. PMs and comments on this blog work just fine.

Signing off,
Aaron.

It may not have had action or drama, but it was still very interesting. In my opinion it gave you just enough information to understand the setting but not enough so that you still have questions and want to read more, if that makes sense. Very well done.

Definitely. Another friend of mine also said the same thing: it's a good feeling to know that the prologue is giving more than one person similar vibes!

There will be more, for sure.

3567386 I look forward to it.
