About that TwiPie Reflections · 9:59am Jun 15th, 2014
Yeah, so that's up. If you read this blog, you'd have seen me talk about this series. Well, after that blog, it just kept growing and growing for me wanting to do it, and well, I started it. The first two chapters are up. Now I want to talk about it.
The chapters are planned to be short, which means that some dialogue or actions might seemed rushed or forced. I'm only working with so many words, and I'm not exactly explaining an entire day with each one, though I have been thinking. Perhaps a bit later down, I could change it so that instead of short chapters, they become longer chapters which can go through the running theme of the relationship. But then again, at this point, they're already in a well-established relationship, so that might not be necessary.
The episodes and chapters themselves. This can get rather tricky actually. There are many episodes of the show that don't revolve around either Twilight or Pinkie, so trying to put them into a scenario with them both could be a bit hard. For example, what exactly do I put in for Apple Family Reunion? Babs Seed appears and then they talk about it? That seems rather forced, and admittedly rather lazy. Some episodes are really going to be tougher than others, and given that the majority of the series is based around the relationship, some episodes mentioning or references will really only be brief compared to others. It's About Time is an easy one to do, while others aren't. While some can just be given something simple, such as Trixie returning for Boast Busters, it adds another question. If I went through with that, what would I do for Magic Duel? The Alicorn Amulet? I'm not going to deny some of these may test me, but then again, it will only improve my range of thinking.
As it's a long-running series, and given that the chapters are short, this isn't going to be my main focus. I'll update this when I can, but won't be my main driving thing. I'll still put my utmost effort into these, given that perhaps those first two chapters you could say aren't exactly... grand in my eyes at the moment, but this isn't Twilight's List here. Like I said, they're short and sweet chapters, so compressing things down can be a little tricky, which is why I brought up the longer chapter point. Moving chapters up to longer ones, focusing a lot around their relationship. Like for instance, Winter Wrap Up could consist of the entire day through Twilight's perspective, Pinkie going off to the ice skating at the beginning. Then throughout the day, she'd go and quickly check out her marefriend. Small things like that, but given the circumstance, can make the chapters longer, say around 5,000 words. But if I do that, then what's really the point of the quick mentioning and reflecting back on the episode itself? I should just really do a full TwiPie story at that point, taking away the whole Reflections part. It's a bit of a tough call to make.
I noticed it didn't bring in a huge amount of views after how long it's been up. I suppose a few things could accredit this, such as the ship itself, the premise, or a few others.
Or perhaps, it could be because Blueshift came out with a story shortly after, as well as a huge load of other stories following afterwards. Yeah... that went down well.
I'm not really complaining, though I always seem to have horrible luck with uploading or updating. I wasn't expecting the three dislikes though. I mean, Hot Water at this moment only has two, so how comes a clop has less dislikes? A clop. With less dislikes. Talking more about Hot Water too, it just keeps growing in views, which is always nice. But Twilight Reflections doesn't have a huge amounts of likes either, but given the length of the series, hopefully more people will get pulled in, seeing as how it will really be huge. Do people just hate TwiPie? Or are they those obligatory dislikers who just down-vote everything? Sometimes, I'd just like to know. A simple comment explaining why you didn't like it would be nice to know. Not just, "OH, I HATE DIS". Oh well, we can't all have what we want.
So those low views? Hoping they will increase. They probably will with each chapter. If they don't, well it wouldn't upset me. I'll still enjoy writing this.
As just with the fact that this is going alongside other fics, I'm not really worrying. The Calling Night really has my main attention at this point, but writing some of it is tough. Hopefully, you will see why when the next chapter rolls around.
As a TwiPie shipper though, this isn't my only shipping story with the pair. With Hot Water came my TwiPie stories, so basically, insert the Game of Thrones meme here. You know, brace yourself. Series or one-shots, oh they're coming.
But then again, I don't always ship them. I actually have a plenty of one-shots, mostly comedies, that cast the pair, but no shipping occurs. For instance, there's this one fic, and spoilers here in case you don't want to know, named The Laws of Gravity, where Twilight attempts to teach Pinkie about gravity, when of course, things don't happen as planned. I have quite a lot starring the pair, not always put into shipping. It's a reason why I like the pairing itself, and that's the style they have together. I just find they work together so well, relationship or not. I can't really explain it in a huge deal, but it just... works for me.
So really, expect quite some fics involving just the pair alone, shipping or not. Of course, I'm not writing all TwiPie, there will be plenty of other things. For instance, the one-shot sequel to Cheese Pie Cake. But it's rather tough deciding a key factor involving the pair. This one-shot is going to be set about a few weeks to a few months after Cheese Pie Cake, but it's about the relationship itself. Again, a bit of spoilers here, but I can't decide if Cheese and Pinkie have gotten together in a relationship, and if they did, what level they're at. Like maybe, they're together, but are taking things really slow. Or just remaining what the end of Cheese Pie Cake set up, where Pinkie feels strongly for him, and maybe he starts to feel something for her. Given the specific characters that are going to be in the one-shot too, this makes it even harder. I feel like I might end up upsetting someone with my overall decision.
So all in all, I guess what I'm saying is, TwiPie Reflections is going to be continued, and I hope people reading it will get pleased. I even got three followers at some point after uploading it, me being asleep at the time, so thanks to those extra stalkers watchers.
But I shall leave you with something that has been tormenting me. For some strange reason, I can't stop listening to this:
It's burned into my brain!
EDIT: I forgot to mention this too, but something else regarding TwiPie Reflections. There really isn't a running story going on. What I mean is, there isn't a huge story plot happening, they are just together, and you could even argue that each chapter is really a one-shot by itself. Some may reference other chapters and that, but really, there shouldn't be any huge drama or sad bits. Some running things might carry over if I like them or if they get popular, but it's unsure at this point. And if you read the chapters, you'll have seen that really, they are in a very well established relationship. If what Pinkie whispered in the first chapter and the entire scene of the second didn't give that away, then just look at the Sex tag. It's pretty obvious.
Something that may or may not be addressed in this too, is how they got together. From the other blog, I presented a few ways to present it. What I finally went with, is that they hooked up some time after the Season 4 finale, and will make some cocky comments about episodes, like with the Baby Cakes example I mentioned, Twilight will say Pinkie looked cute in diapers. Maybe afterwards, they'd go and steal a few, and Pinkie puts some on. I don't know at this point, but that's sort of the running gist.
I'm also getting this side thing going on, telling me I should make a clop-side series to this. Although it's only two chapters in, it's just implanting into my mind, telling me to do it. Like, what happened after the end of that second chapter. I uh... don't know at this point. What with the Sex tag and all, perhaps this could be a thing. Way too early to tell. Something to think about I guess.
I cannot believe I'm aiding and abetting this, but probably it might be more popular if there were a side series including clop. Or not. You'd have to find someone who regularly read it to know. My impression is that the weekends are a double-edged sword: more people are watching, but more are updating, so your fic disappears off the front page faster. Could be premise + ship: people might be under the impression that it's just a rewrite of the episodes with TwiPie, which having read the first chapter, it really isn't.
As for the CheesePie sequel and the possible reaction, hey, I'm cool with it, as long as there's not a love triangle with Coco Pommel or Maud. Maud is just --too weird for me, and Coco Pommel, gah. It's totally unreasonable of me, but for some reason that ship pushes my buttons. It's probably the mix of "ermigawd, threat to my Pinkie ship! Do something!" in a flurry of Pair the Spares plus "ship all the ponies! ALL the ponies!" But that's just my personal preference. And you're always going to upset SOMEONE.That's just a given.
