Friends aren't people who don't piss you off. They're people who are worth forgiving over and over.

Fiasco · 4:38am Jun 1st, 2014

My Saturday night D&D game had to be canceled, because the GM wasn't able to begin until late, and half the players needed to go to sleep early. So, instead, three of us played a game of Fiasco; our first time playing the game ever.

We played the Tales from Suburbia playset. I was Lucy, in a family feud with one player, Vance, who was a thief and partner to the other. I had divorced the third player, Jerry, over his partnership with Vance, but remarried when he assured me the two had split up. Vance was living in our rental duplex for three years without my knowledge.

Jerry and Vance had stolen the toilet that Elvis died on, and installed it in our bathroom. Being a woman to put Jabba the Hut to shame, I'd clogged it up. That's how our story began.

At the end, Jerry was wanted for murder (and then he got murdered...). Vance was a victim of police brutality (before suing the county and getting a settlement big enough to buy the toilet he'd stolen), and he used the money to buy a place in South America, get reconstructive surgery, and he changed his name. I used Jerry's life insurance to buy some liposuction, coming out of the process looking more like Leia, and then I hooked up with a nice guy I met on the internet who lived in South America...

And the toilet? Stolen by a group of Amish people after it destroyed a wooden bridge while being dragged behind a truck, falling into the ravine below in the process.

What a fiasco! :rainbowlaugh:

Anyway, I'm considering creating an MLP Playset for the game. A playset basically consists of:
* Six categories for relationships between player characters, with six details for each category
* Six categories for locations, with six details for each category
* Six categories for needs/desires, with six details for each need
* Six categories for objects, with six details for each need

For example, one of the Object categories could potentially be "Element of Harmony", and the six details could be the six different elements. One of the Location categories could potentially be "Ponyville", with six sites around town for the details.

The categories and details need to be specific enough to help build a story, but general enough to weave together in just about any way possible. My relationship with my husband in my game was "Romance: Divorced and remarried spouses", for example, while the relationship between the other two players was "Crime: Thieves" and my other relationship was "The Past: Bad family blood from way back." The fact that our divorce was over the thief partnership due to the bad blood sprang up organically. The remarriage led to the joke that Vance was living in the same house without my knowledge, because the partners were trying to hide their relationship from me.

Any ideas for elements in a MLP Fiasco?

You have rivalry, like dash and AJ did. Hmm, there might be good and bad flaws, like aj's stubborn refusal to accept help, or the strange aspects of the cmc's like a blank flank as one option, either, adult or filly/colt.

You could have love interest, and family as well. Spike/rarity, and spike/twilight, or twilight/shining armor as examples.

Locations, well, canterlot seems a big one. id say two more major cities, like seaddle or manehatten. with three less city-like spots, dodge junction, or whatever that west spot was called, and throw in two other spots, or take one city for certain exotic place, like the crystal kingdom.

As for desires, well, there's always unhappy species, you could spin it in the west as the buffalo, or canterlot as uppity nobles.

Building off of the Rivalry idea, the details could range from "Friendly" (AJ and Dash) to "Mutual utter loathing" (Celestia and most major villains.)

Also, one of the needs/desries definitely needs to be Valuables, with details including "status," "sentimental item," and "crystals." (In lieu of a Sombra emoticon, have a Rarity: :raritystarry:)

Also also, one of the Object categories should probably be Food, ranging from "grass and/or flowers" to "royal." As in, you stole Celestia's cake.

2164090 I really just tried to draw what I could immediately recall from the show, albeit, at 1am my time. But you have a few odd items, from the odd magic whupsie like flutterbat, or the orange frog, or the mirror pond. Heck, you could likely do as an object of issue, creepy music number or something odd as a plot point.

Magic: Product of a magical accident?

2164099 I could see magical accident easily as something that works as an object or relationship like the magical love potion for cheerilee and big mag, or zecora and the poison joke.
