Announcing The Mailbox: Reloaded · 11:06pm May 18th, 2014
Howdy, folks!
So, last summer I was involved in an experimental collaborative project called The Mailbox. For The Mailbox, I played the role of Twilight Sparkle while she was away from Ponyville for the summer, writing letters to her friends while they were also off on their own, private adventures. The rest of the mane six were played by other writers, and overall, everyone had a pretty good time of it.
Well, we decided to do it again this year, with a new story picking up after Season Four and featuring a somewhat altered cast for the characters. Here is this year's cast of characters:
Applejack will be played by bookplayer
Rainbow Dash will be played by Jake R
Rarity will be played by TheLastBrunnenG
Pinkie Pie will be played by JaketheGinger
Fluttershy will be played by Peroth E
and as stated, I will reprise my role as Twilight
This year, we plan on compiling letters as they're written and releasing a weekly recap, arranged in semi-chronological order (subject to wiggling order around for readability here and there) and releasing as a chaptered story to the site, which I've agreed to host. The summer starts, at least for the mane six, this Monday. Join the group, The Mailbox: Reloaded to follow along in real time, and/or stay tuned for next week when the first chapter of letters will be posted to a story.
I had a blast writing Twilight last year, and I'm very much looking forward to doing it all again with some added twists. Last year, bookplayer and I discovered we had a certain affinity for writing TwiJack together, so we thought it would be interesting to start this year's Mailbox off with the two of them already in a relationship, so we can tell a different sort of romance story than a get-together with our characters. And even if you aren't keen on TwiJack, we should have plenty to read about as all six embark to different ends of the world, as told by a cast of extremely talented writers (and also me :P). I hope you join in on the fun.
For those who follow my production blogs, I opted not to do a formal one this week in exchange for making this announcement. Rest assured, I am still writing, and not just prepping letters for this collab. Hopefully, you'll be seeing something new pop up this week or next in addition to The Mailbox: Reloaded.

I've heard there will be TwiJack involved.
Skeeter did a great job of compiling the previous Mailbox, let's hope this one comes out just as awesome, if not more so!

But the top event of the ponyless summer starts. Excellent.
Can't wait. Personally I like the story version much better, much easier to keep track of.
