AT LAST, SIR TERRY, WE MUST WALK TOGETHER.

Terrible news today. Terry Pratchett, luminary (and incredibly prolific) writer, has died today at age 66.

    An interesting article/series on writing

    Hello all!
I just came across this, and thought it had some really insightful explanations of the sort of thing I look for in fics:

(referring to a scene from the second Hobbit movie where Thorin behaves in a particularly stupid way)

    Non-MLP fanfiction reviews

Despite the fact that I've been reviewing MLP fanfiction exclusively for the past couple of months, FiMFiction doesn't hold a lock on good stories. With that in mind, here are a few reviews of standout fanfiction from other communities. As always, I abstain from assigning numerical ratings because I try to review only the really exceptional fics -- there's enough dross that I don't feel the

My new thing: acappella song covers · 1:09am Apr 29th, 2014

So. I realize I haven't posted here in over a year, but here's a new thing I'm starting:

I'm starting to get up to speed on the process of acappella song production. I'm currently using Reaper. My first song (as you should hopefully be able to see) was a cover of The Rains of Castamere from Game of Thrones, as arranged by Peter Hollens. I'd love to hear people's opinions on it -- I'm under no illusions that it's anything approaching "good", but I think it's at least listenable.

The song currently in the pipeline is Feather's "Mad Mares", which I'm most of the way done on. I'm looking for someone to sing a particular soprano high-choral bit that I'm currently representing with a synth, but once that's done hopefully I'll post that to YouTube (and FiMFiction) as well.
