The new chapter of The Sweetie Chronicles!
And starting what formally will be the Second Act: Fracture
Now, yes, Sweetie will be visiting Backwards Through the Mirror by Rusty The Brave, which is Dark and Mature. (Although mostly for descriptions in the initial chapters.)
For those unfamiliar with that story, let me talk about it a little bit.
First of all, it's a crossover of Rusty's headcanon from White Wolf.
To add a bit of insight to that, let me quote Wikipedia:
The dominant themes of the game are the pain of loss, the quest for identity, and the bittersweet nature of human existence.
So you can imagine how cool this chapter will be character-wise.
While the tags might put some of you off, Rusty's Backwards Through the Mirror is an amazingly descriptive story with the queer and weird working to give you an idea of this bizarre and intense world he's built. Familiar ponies, unfamiliar creatures and amazingly cool powers as well as incredibly alien creatures make it a real pleasure to read, even if he tells me he winces at some stuff in it.
Will you have to read the original story? No. I will provide enough background to cover the basics.
Will you be missing out? Yes. There's only so much I can gloss over.
If you like stories about the fae; imagining what is like to be sort of trapped in the strange lands beyond what ponies understand, and yet have not only the strength to survive, but to become more... give it a read.
As for TSC?
Well... I hate to put it bluntly, but it's not a chapter you want to 'skip because dark'. Point blank, this has always been the game-changer since I started this, and it affects Sweetie in a lot of ways. It'll be tough for her, though.
If you read 'This Platinum Crown' by Capn Chryssalid or 'WD: The Human in Equestria Experiment' or even go back as far as the original version of 'The Empty Room', you might have caught glimpses of it.
The reason this is important is that Sweetie will evolve a lot character-wise. Her future decisions, her dealings with others and her drive to go back home will be directly affected by this, and I honestly feel that you will be missing way too much of what the story is about.
She's going to reach the point where she will decide how to continue her travels, find herself and finally emerge into a better pony... and that comes from this one.
This is the end of the beginning, and the start of that moment. If you skip it, it's going to be a big skip, and you'll be losing very important aspects of what Sweetie will pull through.
So, I promise you, this chapter will not change The Sweetie Chronicles' Teen Rating, and I'm combing it to ensure that, but it's not going to be fluffy. Well... not completely.
All that plus I'm very excited at how awesome it is.

Wait... wait... I am lot. Last time I was reading this story, it said that next chapter will be "The End of Ponies" ... WTF? Did I missed some blog posts? (quite possible, when knighty decided that they should be mixed with updates, without ant sort function or filter)
Or am I going crazy already, from reading too many stories at once? (there is already so many of those, that it is impossible to count them.)

Yeah, basically, to get what he really wanted/needed in the characterization, plot, and everything else... EoP had to be pushed back, because Sweetie's basically just not ready for it, or something. It's been a while since he explained it to me, and he used too many simple words so I forgot.

Oh, man. Yeah, people absolutely must read BTTM, it's great! Some of the best description I've ever read. I've tried to get non-horse-word-reading people to read it, with sadly little success. Read it read it read it.

Having found the premise of your story interesting, I went and read every fic you crossed over with before reading the chapter it crosses over with. If it weren't for you and this story, I might have missed out on some amazing fanfics. This has me reading BTtM and I'm thoroughly enjoying it, and looking forward to your new chapter. I guess I'm saying thank you for all of this
Funny thing, Backwards Through the Mirror is one of the few fics on this site my little sister recommended to me. Time to go read it!
please include Inner Demons by SapphireLibra3 as a later chapter. sweetie actually has quite role in it. not protagonist big, but still pretty big.
