Oh gods.... What have I done.... · 3:05am Mar 23rd, 2014
Soooo.... I was watchin some Nostalgia Critic, You know the one about Ghost Rider, and a comment jumped out at me...
MLP.
We must overreact immediately.
I giggled at this and thought what a funny comment. Let's see what funny/jerky comments the scum of Youtube bring to this poor man...
This is what I found...
my little pony is the most racist thing since the birth of a nation
It was this comment that made me pause. How so? I asked myself. He goes on to explain in another comment.
i've explained why its racist before, and i'm not kidding around here. this is no goof, prank, joke, or goof (again).
it is a show where the races define the work the races will do no matter what aspirations they have against their race. its not even questioned whether or not horses want to do work that conflicts their physical forms. why should royalty be based on being more physically diverse than others rather than actual honor or integrity based on helping others or guiding people to prosperity?
starting to see why its racist yet?
I was shocked and appalled by the serious holes in his logic.... So I replied.... Oh gods... What have I done... This is what I said...
I'm sorry if I cannot see your point when there is none. You don't see an Earth Pony pushing clouds around, do you? You are trying to bring a point from one universe to another where the rules are very much different. I'm certain that if Humans were defined by a similar trait amongst their own 'Race', we too would be in a similar boat. Super strong people would be doing things like heavy lifting, or keeping the peace while magic people would be doing the things that require more focus. Hell, flying humans would be doing something that they are good at. I'm afraid your logic is like the square peg trying to fit in the star hole.
People, and not so incidentally Ponies, do what they are TALENTED at. If you try and do something other than what you are good at, you will obviously be bad at it. Not to say you couldn't get better at it, but the majority of people aren't a bloody Mary Sue. There are some concepts people just can't grasp, while the person next to them probably understands it in depth.
Now, to get back on topic, Racism is an old and tired concept that we should just go out back and bury. Yes, racism is bad, we get it already. But when a whole race of people are still butt hurt over something that happened GENERATIONS ago, not to mention riding the bloody Racism Train to get their way, it tends to stop being a meaningful thing and quickly becomes that thing everyone sighs at when it is brought up.
I can barely remember what MY point was here, but like I said, you can't take a HUMAN concept and place it on a PONY world. Their world had a different history to ours. So really, I can't see the racism here...And here if you told me 2 years ago that I would be making an argument in the YouTube comments, I would have murdered you... But how people change. Maybe we, as AMERICANS(Yes, Racism is really only brought up as loudly as it is in our culture) should get over it and finally move on as a country. I mean, we have a black president. Not a GOOD president, mind, but a black one. Presumably... Maybe.... Who knows?
P.S. I'm not making this argument as a Brony, but as a person who is SICK AND TIRED of the Racism card being bandied about like a cheap, two dollar whore on a Friday...
If you read all that, then you can probably see where my focus kept jumping at the shiny squirrel made of candy and cupcakes. But I really have this thing about racism in the modern age. I see it as nothing but an excuse and crutch for a people who are too lazy to get off their ass and do something. This isn't just for black people, but for ANYONE who pulls that old, overused trick. It is seriously starting to annoy me. As you can probably tell...
ON ANOTHER NOTE!
If you haven't subscribed to Ink Potts or even SEEN their work, I would suggest CHECKING THEM OUT HERE! They are absolutely amazing, even iff they aren't going to do full animations....
