Reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated

    Hello all,

Just got an email from Brony Soprano concerning my health (given that my last blog was about me getting Covid, I understand that some might be a bit jittery). Rest assured, I overcame Covid and am in good health lately (probably better health because I've started working out some).

And this is why I play Tzeentch

Well, after nearly two years of dodging and playing it safe, I've finally been "blessed" by Grandfather Nurgle's plague. I tested positive for Covid this afternoon.

The Ultimate Defeat of Chaos in the MLP universe · 1:44am Mar 3rd, 2014

This isn't foreshadowing to my stories, but it's just a theory I have.
Now, the Four Gods of Chaos draw their powers mainly from emotions. The reason why they're trying to actively KILL MAIM BURN! the universe is because they're constantly being fed negative emotions (Bloodlust, Despair, Lust, Envy). But they also draw emotion from positive emotions, such as honor, love and hope.
Now, here's my question: if the Chaos Gods were starved of the negative emotions of the 40K universe, would they still be the same if they were brought to the MLP universe and exposed to the positive emotions of love and friendship? If we're sticking with 40K style cynicism, then yeah, they'd still be the same, but maybe there would be something different.
Or maybe I just need to play more 40K and realize that Chaos just ruins everyone's day.

And on the subject of love, no I am not implying that Cadence is the reincarnation of Slaanesh. That'd be icky

I guess it would be hard to say since it is clear that while the GEP-verse is far far less of an hellhole than 40k-canon, there is still those negative emotions going around. Perhaps they would be greatly weakened and might pull a Discord and forcibly corrupt the inhabitants

Well, I've never played the game myself, but from what research I did so your story made sense, I never got why there wouldn't be a positive version of the chaos gods in the first place. Maybe positive emotions are just, generally, weaker or fewer than negative emotions. However, in the MLP universe, the positive emotions would be stronger and more numerous due to it being a realm kept safe by the crystal heart, the elements of harmony, and who know's what else. So there would likely be a nice version of the chaos gods in the MLP universe. Or I could just be spouting gibberish about a topic I know next to nothing about.

Maybe Slaanesh is Cadence's Father? Or Mother? Or second cousin twice removed by a time traveling uncle posing as his own grandfather's former roommate? :pinkiegasp:

And yes, I made my own head hurt with that last one... :facehoof:

That actually sounds pretty plausible. If nothing else, it sounds good enough that it would work in a comedy fanfic where the chaos gods go to Equestria and hilarity ensues as they interact with Discord, the Mane6, and everyone else. That said, someone else is going to have to write that, because I already have far too many stories on my plate right now.

1890267 Knowing Slaanesh, s/he'd probably find a way to manage that... and then get off on that

1890286 I'd write it, but I've got too many things going right now

The problem with being a sapient amalgam of emotions is that you are what you eat, and given time, a steady diet of their more positive aspects could eventually cause the Chaos gods to become moderately less grimdark.

The catch, of course, is that one would need more positive emotional energy than the negative they have already consumed. That make take a while with just one planet.

Well, nothing about Chaos is Inherently evil. They encourage negative emotions, but that's because those the most prevalent, and thus the easiest to draw power from in 40K. In Equestria? I see no reason why their positive aspects (Honor, Hope, Love, Joy) couldn't come to the fore.

1890672 Hate falls under Khorne's domain, so hate would make him stronger and probably make Slaanesh and Nurgle (who represent romantic and familial love respectively) weaker

Of the four, i can only see one being fully ended in this realm. Nurgle. The rest, change, but yet, are still whom they are in different aspects.

Pardon the spelling as i dont recall the exact way each is.

Slanesh, i think, perhaps changes very little, as its not about excess directly, but the movement of most emotions, love, passion, regret, loss, fear. Those true emotional situations, one bridges a connection. And of that, perhaps, I could see changelings holding him in high regard as a provider for their civilization to live upon.

Tzench, he changes some as well. And yet, he still is very much who he is. He is still one whom enjoys shaking things up, the cults, maybe, but those with the potential to move the world to place in his court through giving them power with strings. Ambitious nobles, warmongering warlords, even jealous unicorns seeking abilities. Forgotten tainted artifacts, and the like, that he can use to garner indirect power.

The wrath fellow, khorne, loses perhaps the most here. Yet gains a following in two non-pony places. Both the gryphons and the minotaurs I can see would be very eager followers in places. The first for their predatory instincts, and the drive of their warriors. Yet in such a peaceful place, I can see it being a more ritualized thing, They spend days, months, channeling that inner bloodlust unto you have someone that could easily be a terror on the battlefield, but also when pitted against others, is a sanguine terror as well. Blood for blood.

The minotaurs, again, follow in the places towards where the gryphons are, but rather than the direct warriors of ritual, they aim more towards the deeds of prowess that place them into harms way in their circle. Slaying a dragon, stopping a cult, or something that while earning them prestige at home, will bring blood and violence.

While none are anywhere near as bad, each has a following of places they could be and still garner power, but also move in machinations against each other and equestria. But really, slanesh has the most to gain here, of the four that I see.

The stream of emotions would, for lack of a better term, 'corrupt' them. As they spend more time in the MLP-verse, their 'reserves' of emotion from the 40k verse would run out, and they'd be forced to tap into alternate streams to retain their power or use their rapidly-diminishing power to attempt a 'last gamble' to create events they can draw their emotional energy from.

Slannesh has the easiest option; make a deal with Chysalis, and have Changelings attempt to encourage lust and pleasure across the world.

Nurgle, being the de facto Chaos God of Death, also benefits from most mortal creatures longing to be immortal. Although his diseases would have to be modified, his tactic of 'plague cults' offering aid to the afflicted to lure them in before they become his cultists might work. Otherwise, I suspect the Diamond Dogs wouldn't mind trading their souls for extra strength/toughness.

Tzeentch will be Tzeentch. There will always be unicorns who want more power, ambitious nobles, warlords and the like to feed his sphere.

Khorne loses the most though by far. Unless the Minotaurs and Gryphons are highly militant, there is very little violence for Khorne to draw energy off, although Tzeentch's dickery may help him by causing violence.

Or they could change streams to the more moderate and more common emotions. Slaanesh would become a god more dedicated to success and ambition, Nurgle to tradition (being the opposite of change) but retaining disease, Tzeentch would be able to sustain himself off magic, ambition and change, which are ever-present and he would more than likely not be forced to switch, and Khorne would have to take in rivalry, honour and glory.

What the effects of these new, positive emotions are, well...

VBA

My Guess is that the universe of the ponies isn't natural for the chaos gods, They are not suposed to be here, because of this even without the Elements they would have a hard time. The imanetrium of this universe is more attuned to harmony and idealism. The logical extreme of this is that this universe have it own gods.

And on the subject of love, no I am not implying that Cadence is the reincarnation of Slaanesh. That'd be icky

Tanks God.

I suppose it's a possibility. Especially since the four keep changing in GW's fluff. There was a time when the four chaos gods were complex characters and not the cardboard cutouts that they are today.

Once upon a time, Khorne actually cared WHERE the blood came from since he was an honorable warrior that did not wanted his champions to seek out challenging opponents and not things that couldn't fight back. There was a portion of time where Nurgle also embodied rebirth and new life since the moss, fungus, puss, etc. that is associated with decay are living organisms; he also cared about others - there was a reason why he was called Papa Nurgle. Tzeentch embodied hope in both the 40K and fantasy settings since it is linked with change in addition to the fact that he was the chaos god of 'order' because he has all these methodical plans. Finally, in addition to Slaanesh always being the chaos god of drugs, sex, and rock'n'roll pleasure and excess, there was a time of perfectionism and pushing the envelope for new experiences and natural highs like ones gotten from adrenalin rushes before it was all washed away in an unforgiving tide of drugs, sex, and rock'n'roll unwholesome crud.

However, GW has overly simplified them to BLOOD/SKULLS, DEATH/DISEASE, MUTATIONS/JUST AS PLANNED, and SEX/DRUGS respectively.

I sometimes hate the people working at GW. :raritycry::raritydespair:
