Realize I haven't breathed a word about this, and that I'm generally silent on the blog side of Fimfiction as it is, but I'm attending Everfree Northwest this year!

    Glimpses 2 - Now Complete

Though it was a day late, hopefully, it's not a dollar short. I've posted the final chapter of Glimpses 2! I hope everyone enjoys the last chapter and enjoyed the story as I whole. I would also like to thank everyone that submitted suggestions to my blog about a month ago. The anthology would not have been nearly as interesting without your input!

Plug for a Friend & a Chance to Win a Copy of the Past Sins Print · 8:30am Feb 17th, 2014

A friend of mine, Piquo Pie, is one of those few folks from the fandom I've had the pleasure of getting to know in person. He's part of the staff that organizes the panels for Everfree NW's writing track, a series of panels geared towards writing and Fanfiction. It's a series of panels that I personally haven't seen at any other pony related convention.

Piquo Pie runs a youtube channel under the name Literature Pie, and he recently he started a series of three videos discussing what he feels makes a great story. The crazy man is evening using Past Sins as an example, using it to discuss what he feels makes both good and bad fanfiction and literature in general.

This coming weekend (Fed 22nd-23rd 2014), he'll be posting the final video the series. But, before then, he's running a little raffle. You can find out more information from his second video in the series, linked below, but I'll cut to the chase. The prize in this little raffle is a one of the printed copies of Past Sins. So if you missed out on the printing, here is a chance to grab yourself a copy.

Oh, and did I mentioned it's a signed copy? No? Well, for those of you that care about such things, the copy he is giving away is signed by me in my pen name. (Since signing my real name only really matters to friends and family who know me by my real name, after all.)

Still, in any case, follow the link below to the second video in Piquo Pie's three part series. Give it a watch, support a good guy, and maybe nab that printed copy of Past Sins.

Well, where as I already have a copy, it does not really seem fair if I were to win.

Maybe I could ship my copy to you, along with return shipping already taken care of, so you could sign my copy :pinkiehappy:

I've been trying to hunt down a copy of that story for fucking ages

Still, in any case, follow the link below to the second video in Piquo Pie's three part series.

Minor correction: I am the man behind the video series; I am one of two authors Piquo has under his employ to create content for Literature Pie along with himself.

The crazy man is evening using Past Sins as an example, using it to discuss what he feels makes both good and bad fanfiction and literature in general.

I came up with the idea to discuss this story for the videos, and Piquo told me to go ahead with it. The contest is all him, though.

I deemed it an apt example for the videos, because since I'm breaking it into three parts, each part will have a very different tone. That, and it's one of the most well known, or at least widely read, stories in the fandom, so the audience would be familiar what I'm using as a model. Besides, if I were to use something like Harry Potter as an example, I would not really be able to nitpick much beyond fanboy qualms (well, and the ending of the final book).

Thank ye kindly for the plug! Perhaps we'll be sitting together on a few of the EFNW panels this year.

Omigosh omigosh omigosh!
Give me that... BOOK!
Oh yeah, watch 1844059 's videos too. And read Repercussions.
Welp, my work here is done.
Barring a contest win (unlikely) there's gotta be some other way to snag a copy somehow. I wasn't around when it was being printed :fluttercry:

Wait WHAT?! You published Past Sins as a book?

1844059 Just finished watching all of your stuff. Great tips you gave!

A separate group initiated the printing and Pen jumped in, giving the book another series of edits and writing an additional, section would be the best word, which I believe was only put in the printed version.

Printed. Not published. There's a difference. Published books get sold in stores. Printed books aren't sold for profit, they just make the recipients pay for the production and sending costs. Otherwise you end up in that rather problematic area of making money off Hasbro's intellectual property :unsuresweetie:

Technically Past Sins is published. http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/publish Actually, any fanfic posted here is "published." The difference lies between private paper publication and traditional publication. Past Sins is not traditionally/industry published, because it does not belong to a publishing house or have an ISBN. :rainbowwild:

Aw, thanks, guys! :twilightblush:

1845108
For the sake of simplicity and stressing the distinction between the two, I stick to the "traditionally/industry published" definition of "published" :trixieshiftright:

Because that's generally the meaning of "published" in "a published book" :ajsmug:

1845178
True, but I'm a nitpicker.

1844059

If I may ask, I have put in my ticket but how will we know who's won? Youtube message or maybe on on Fimfic?

1845481
I believe the plan is for me to personally announce it in the next video.

1845570

Cool man. Can't wait for it

Hope who doesn't have a copy gets/got that.

Such a pity that the books didn't get out before BronyCon last. Although I suppose Pen Stroke ought to be happy about that since he didn't have to sign a 100+ copies (i'm assuming low end)... I mean, like anyone who had a copy and went wouldn't have brought it and tried to get a signature...

I want to know how to get a real copy of past sins and also winter bells and side storys?

1845481

It will be in the video and I will message the winner on Youtube. If I don't hear back in a couple days I'll message them again. And if I can't get a hold of them I'll pick another winner.

Am I the only one that doesn't care for a copy? I mean, if I want to read Past Sins, I can just read it here.:applejackunsure:
