I'll Be Taking Part in a Small Writing Contest (With no Actual Reward). · 6:06am Feb 6th, 2014
This is the sort of thing that brought me to writing on the site in the first place. (Though that contest likely had some sort of reward for winning... I honestly can't remember what it was though). Of course, if I wanted to make money, I wouldn't be writing... so the appeal of a contest, to me, is not the reward, but the act of writing and getting feedback, and being social with others through the act of writing. Care to join me in this contest?
There's a new Monthly Contest Club that I've decided might be a good idea for me to join with. It's sort of an excuse to write more stuff aside from AHoC and Fallen Leaves. Sometimes writing one-shots is just the thing your mind needs in order to really tackle the next chapters of the longer stories.
You see, I went and looked at the group and was sad to see that no stories had been written for the contests yet, so I figured, why not be part of the first contest? I'm not really aiming to win, but I'm just happy to have an excuse prodding me to write a one-shot every now and then, and perhaps experiment with different styles or ideas. This month's prompt is very broad, it has to be a story about the CMC, set sometime in the future from the current CMC that we know and love from the show. The story has to be submitted prior to the end of the month, and has to be at least 1000 words. Heck, it doesn't even have to be complete, it just needs at least one chapter. I'll be certain to take a look at all the other entries and leave a comment on the stories.
So, heads-up, that's what I'm going to be having fun with writing tomorrow. No editors, proofreaders, or prereaders for this one. I think writing it should toss me into the mood to get some editing done on Chapter 3 of Fallen Leaves.
(Once I finish working on this one-shot I'll get right back to writing the new chapter of AHoC. I promise.)

Hrm... I actually have an idea for a short-ish CMC story, and a thousand words minimum isn't a lot... maybe I'll actually write something.
