    Update: August 21st, 2014

So here's the dealio: depression isn't fun. When I first heard of a person who had it, I laughed and thought he was being a bit of a ninny. As it turns out, it's something else entirely, and when your life so far has been a veritable trainwreck of bad decisions made by inexperience and apathy, you realize the hooks were already in deep before you truly began to realize what the nature of this

No, I'm not dead. If you've not realized it yet, updates that take upwards of a month to do is a normal thing for me.

S4: It Ain't Easy Being Breezies

    Better late than never!

    - Breezies. Tiny butterfly pony-people that speak a flargen-floogen language. This amuses me greatly, to the point where I believe this is the first episode in a long time that I went back to rewatch.
    - It's all Spike's fault, and he's still a doormat.

S4: Three's a Crowd · 8:21pm Jan 26th, 2014

Well, some things to be said about this episode.

1. I still don't like Discord, hurray! I don't particularly like his personality, as I find it to be extremely grating, and one with too much power like Discord is someone I generally would not tolerate having around. I still don't understand why people like him, as all he does only causes trouble, which someone can hopefully clarify for me.

2. A crystal guard! Look at all that bling.

3. Blue Flu. And now Rarity and Applejack have/had it, because Discord is Discord, and just has to be an asshole like that.

4. Cadance! Notice that when she turns her head to talk to Twilight at the exhibit, her mane covers the other side of her head. Nice touch there, pretty sure the animators didn't do that before.

5. Mare-itania. Mauritania? Pony puns. Heh.

6. Discord has a song, which he uses to demonstrate how annoying he can be. I liked the HST reference, though.

7. Giant flower is giant. I wonder if it has any seeds.

8. Discord was faking the blue flu the whole time? Say it ain't so! At least he gets the real flu afterwards. It's kind of funny, seeing a god of chaos getting sick. That's not very godlike. Makes me wonder if Celestia and Luna are also susceptible to sickness. They should totally do that. It'd be a great princess episode: Twilight taking care of a sick Celestia.

No key this time, but totally stoked for next week's episode, though. And the next chapter of Tiberian Eclipse sits at 5k words thus far.

I like Discord because:
He's insane in a happy way
I don't like Discord that much because:
He's insane in a happy way

"Insane" and "happy" just don't work together as well as I'd like them to... uh... in this case, even if it's a family-show. Discord's powers are to cause chaos, but his chaos is happy and not really that harmful, which is why his insanity makes it both good and not that good and almost bad. Discord's a nice character because he is batshit crazy, but he's too trolly in a way for me to prefer him that much. I like him because he's op as fuck in swagala-party and he's just playing around, even before he turned to "good"...

───────────────
Flash was in this episode, he took a suggestive glance at Twilight, I'm now laughing my ass off and watching the butthurt.

God getting sick? Hahaa! They are also mortal then!!!
Eh fuck it... I'm just happy that Discord is now more involved, in my opinion he has a lot of potential for a good character that does bizarre things that cause even full episodes, not too much though.
I'd also like to see him in the finale depending on is there going to be a final battle against some foe, I want to see Discord wrecking shit (a.k.a helping the girls a bit in a sticky situation).

1762096 Ah, I see. I guess I don't like him because I don't like that his whole shtick is built on being trolly. I've met more than a few people like that in real life, and my experiences with them were not positive, and I suppose that's reflecting here.

1762113 That's completely understandable. I myself don't like Rainbow Dash that much because of the same reason. Sure she's loyal and always there for her friends, but overall she seems like an ass to me. And I've been dealing with people like that too much.

I see Discord as a spoiled rich kid; all the money and power in the world, and no one can tell him 'no' because he'll just laugh, blow a raspberry at them, then turn into a potato and roll away into the sunset.

He can do what he wants, and he decided that what he wants is to have fun.

I like him precisely because he causes trouble wherever he goes; he makes life interesting without being overly dangerous or 'bad', usually. He's also the only foil of any consequence for Celly and Luna, and now Twily as well. Especially Twily, given her god-tier OCD.

1762222 I can understand that. This is a kid's show, after all, and the best way they can portray a foil to the ever-powerful princesses would be to have someone whose mindset is essentially silly and stupid, something that the kids can resonate with because it's funny to them.

They can't really introduce a serious foil unless they want to make the villain recurring throughout the whole season, and that would bite into the whole brightness of the show if they have to spend the whole time trying to defeat him/her.

I'm starting to dislike Discord too. I'm not sure how the "friendship" dynamic is supposed to work between Discord and everyone but Fluttershy. There seems to be a legitimate mutual hatred between them, but the episode's whole friendship thing was Discord trying to prove that he and Twilight are friends but also to ruin her day with Cadence? I'm getting really mixed signals here.

1763884 Pretty much what I thought. I'm quite sure Discord is aware of what it means to be a friend, and willingly chooses to ignore it in favor of being a douchebag.

Well, at least his presence always gives me pause to think about various ways Discord can meet particularly gruesome ends in my stories.
