Small Hiatus · 3:37am Jan 12th, 2014
I just want to be the first to let all my readers know that, now that 21 is out, we're going to be going on a very small hiatus. This isn't me getting burnt out or deciding I want to give up on the story. Far from it!
Actually, this is something I've been wanting to do for a while. My editors and I are going to be looking over the first three chapters and well, making them suck less. There are several errors I want to fix in the first three chapters. I feel like both Hidden and Lost act somewhat out of character for how they've become, and other silly things. Like, Hidden at certain points addresses the readers, and that just... It just feels off to me. At no point in her narration should she talk to 'you' the reader. Because as meta as the story can be in the post-chapter banter, she as a character isn't supposed to know she's telling a story. So, little things like that need fixing. I'm going to try and streamline as much as I can with my editors' help, expand on points that make absolutely no sense, and just all around clean it up.
I have learned a lot since I started this story, and I don't think my initial chapters are really up to par anymore. So, before going on to chapter 22 and finishing up the current story arc, I'm gonna make the beginning a little less painful to read. My biggest issue right now, I feel, is that new readers get turned away by the poor quality of the first few chapters and don't get to see me meet my stride. For all of you who did read through and stuck with me, I love you. All of you. But when it comes down to it, I want this story to be the absolute best it can be.
I am not going to be starting a new version, I'm just going to update the chapters as they are with the new content. I am not changing any of the content. The same things are going to happen, but the dialogue and writing style will fit better. So, you'll be able to reread the chapters if you like, but as stated, the same CONTENT will happen. Hidden and Lost will still traipse their way into 12 and 21, etc etc. It'll just read less like a train wreck.
As soon as I have all the chapters ready, I'll update the current ones here all at once, and make another blog post letting everyone know. Once that's finished, we'll bust our asses to get chapter 22 out ASAP.
Thank you, all of you.

Question!
Are we inside her mind in the present tense? Or have these events already occurred, and we are experiencing a retelling of it? Or are we as readers supposed to be her? If the events have already happened but are being retold by her, then she'd be able to refer to the reader in the present. If we are her, then our foreknowledge, sensory, and interpretation of the world in all faucets must be first passed through Hidden's filter as narrator, reliable or not If we're a separate agent but the events happening to her are in the present, then she would have trouble referring to reader unless reader were explicitly defined as an in-universe entity, but it also still enforces sensory constraints.
I dunno. I guess I'm kinda confused.
... What? Look. She doesn't do it in any of the other chapters, and I think the fact that she refers to the readers directly in the early chapters doesn't fit. So I'm fixing it. The rest is too complicated!

think you meant facets...
Fairy Nuff. Wait... no. Fair enough.
As for the story, I'm still noticing grammatical errors in the current chapters. If you'd like additional help proofreading in the future, or want someone to check up on old chapters, by all means, let me know. I don't say this in a "Your writing sucks" sort of way – I'm simply offering myself up for

Yeah, little things slip past occasionally. If you spot something wrong, just send me a private message here about it and I'll fix it as soon as possible.

Yeah, I try to, but since I do all my reading on my mobile, it's a pain to correct on Fimfiction. You know how copypasta on mobile goes? Not well. Perhaps I'll make GDocs copies of new chapters and highlight in them.
