The Discord Song Has a Lot of Words · 11:26pm Nov 16th, 2013
EQD: According to Meghan McCarthy, the Discord song in season 4 has "a lot of words".
:tap tap: Is this thing on?
Ahem.
This evening, if I may, I'd like to present a selection from “The Pirates of Ponyville”:
"I am the very model of a reformed draconequus,
Animal, vegetable, mineral and really quite a mess.
I know all of the Princesses of Canterlot,
From Manehatten to Las Pegasus, we all kind of fight a lot.
I’m well acquainted, too, with matters most nonsensical,
Like Changelings, economics and Equestria historical.
About time travel, I’m teeming with lots of news
Regarding embarrassing facts about Doctor and Derpy Hooves.
"For my magical insight, I’m random and adventury,
Although I’ve been stone since the start of the century;
But still, in matters not requiring a lick of sense,
I am the very model of a reformed draconequus."
Than'kew, than'kew, everypony. And now, may I present my friend Fluttershy and her rendition of "Poor Wandering One."
I'm still a little mad that EqD's title for the blog post about this led me to think it was Derpy.
From the "Major-General's Song" in Gilbert and Sullivan's The Pirates of Penzance.
And, no, I didn't riff the whole thing. Riffing G&S takes a lot of work. Imagine Puccini's Madame Fluttershy!
The meter's a bit of a mess. The very first line a syllable short. (i AM the VEry MOdel OF a MOdern MAjor-GENerAL, iambic octameter) Consider the following:
I am the very model of constructive chaos incarnate.
To make the world a better place a cause to which I dedicate.
I know the royal alicorns, who I can barely tolerate.
I'd drive you to insanity, but I am evil-celibate.
I'm very well acquainted too with all matters ridiculous.
Ironically, with such things, I am awfully meticulous.
About edible weather I am teeming with a lot of news.
With many cheerful tales about a hailstorm made of pfeffernüsse.

Yeah, I have no head for meter. I struggle to turn out a decent limerick.
"Evil-celibate" was clever. I am in awe of "pfeffernüsse."

I wasn't before:
But I am now. Oh, how I am now!

Admittedly, this is not the first time I've rewritten the Major-General's Song, nor even the first ponification. And the only reason I've even heard of pfeffernüsse is because of Windfall.

In Equestria, of course, the tune is best known as a mnemonic for the names of the queens and kings of Olde Unicornia:
1512993 May I humbly suggest you both collaborate and make the entire song? I can humbly promise to practice and recite it and even try to downplay my canadian accent. Or bribe a proper english friend to do it.
