Site Post » One-Shotober Challenge · 5:34pm Oct 31st, 2013
Happy Halloween, everyone.
Throughout the past month, the One-Shotober group has been collecting submissions for a highly ambitious and demanding challenge. The goal was for each participant to create and publish 31 separate one-shot stories, one for each day of October. Submissions could be in any genre and of any length, so long as they were one-shots. A grand total of 337 stories were submitted by 35 participants, which means that this challenge alone is responsible for over 10% of all stories approved during the past month. For the die-hard procrastinators among us, that kind of productivity is downright frightening.
Now that the challenge is complete, some congratulations are in order.
Seven tenacious authors completed the challenge in its entirety, posting the full 31 stories apiece. They are:
Degethemighty,
electrexcessive,
Flint Sparks,
TheExhaustedBrony,
The Lunar Samurai,
TheTobacconist, and
Twinkletail.
Additionally, CartsBeforeHorses, Regidar, and Ianpiersonjdavis came close, with 24, 18, and 17 stories, respectively.
Thank you to everyone who participated in the group, whether you finished or not. Please sign up for the challenge next year!
Thank you to the story approvers and mods for putting up with an increased workload for the month. We couldn’t have done it without you, and appreciate your tireless work.
And thank you to all of our readers on Fimfiction!

I do have to say I am impressed, and kinda jelly, wishing I had the ability to write like that right now.
Just too many things goin on in my life when combined with depression causing writer's block...
Cool. I'll have to try for that next year. Congrats to those who did it!
Bravo. That's darned impressive. My hat's off to you all.
That is, if I had a hat...
This is me right now.

gratzles
That... I don't know how one could even do that. Bravo to the participants.
'Die-hard procrastinators' huh? I'm not one, but if I was, I wouldn't be your friend, even if it were true. Still, congratulations to those who did it!
I suspect that handle is even more appropriate now.
Props to everyone who participated! I can't imagine.
I find it fitting that TheExhaustedBrony completed this challenge.
Impressive for those that did the full 31. And probably a bit draining as well. Hopefully they aren't feeling too burnt out right now.
One thing though: seems slightly premature to post this, as Oct 31 isn't quite over yet. Could be a few more stories posted from entrants, no?
1469219 Carts asked me to post it today, so I assume he talked to everyone and confirmed that all the entries were in that were going to come in.

Dang, these ponies be crazy, yo!

He read one of my stories and couldn't stop yawning!
1469242 I'm a night owl, what can I say?
I've said it before but I'll say it agian, congrats everyone!
Gee, I kind of wish I'd done this. :B Could've cleaned up a lot of my workfile.
All those big shots, and I'm just here twiddling my thumbs.
1469328
I love you.
1469191
I know that feel bro
1469333
Thank you flint.
Some of those guys have only thirty stories
Sorry for being that one guy. Still, thirty's impressive all the same.
1469490
Might want to check that mature filter.
(plus collabs. Don't forget collabs)
1469490
Is it november yet? No. I'm working on it XD. Nothing like riding the line.

He's also forgetting about collaborations. The group has the One-Shotober rules on it, and collaborations between authors are allowed. He was looking at our portfolio, not the group folders.
I could have been on that list but life was like "Nope your using your free time here, at work."
only got up to 13 stories But it was a Fun Run
Wow, I'm impressed. I couldn't imagine writing a story a day for 31 days, heck I have enough trouble getting all my homework done.
1469240
Damn, Skeeter. How do you manage to lurk in such a casual manner? That's impressive.
1469943
It's just my talent.
S'all I got, y'know?
~Skeeter The Lurker
1469947
Last I checked;
you got the approval badge from Wanderer D, you've been blessed by God, you have a cult dedicated to you, and you have 372 legionnaires.Keep lurking though.
Edit: 373 now.
1469862
Some sacrifices had to be made.
1469959
Wait what? I never got that...
Not yet at least!
~Skeeter The Lurker
1470018
Sorry, I thought you did.
1470022
Yeah... That's on my 'to do' list...

1470023
On the bright side of things, I actually found a legitimate reason to use
strike-through.1469965
This. So many sacrifices. I hope my neighbours don't get worried about their lost puppy.
1470041
The dark reaches of the abyss didn't even heed me. I know I should have used a full grown bull, but do you know how expensive those are?
...They may have taken offense when I used a teacup poodle. On the bright side, I don't hear that thing yapping anymore.
1470043
Dat silver lining.
1470051
I think I would have killed it anyway.
Why do I never hear about these things?
Wow just wow. I've got to admit normally I consider these challenges a waste of time, but this one on the other hand I've got to say my hats off to whomever attempted this I couldn't do it to save my life.
1469226 I like to note that over one hundred stories were added to the group since you made this blog post.
1470106
Wanderer D mentioned it in his site blog post advertising groups. Good stuff in there, sometimes.
Wait, you mean you're not banning it for the future?
Color me pleasantly surprised. That's what I was expecting.
Wow. That's over 7000 words a week for the whole month… and while I do that pretty much every week, that's seven distinct little stories and not a single story arc, or multiple story arcs leading to each other and providing that sort of clear direction.
I can't even imagine doing this sort of challenge, and I'm fairly well known for churning out a book chapter a week like clockwork as if it weren't no thing. CONGRATS one-shotters. Thirty-one distinct short story ideas in a month without a break? Y'all brains must be kaleidoscopes by now!
And Regidar had 1000 words of commenting to do a day on top of that…
I make 0 stories every day. ujelly?
