I have a friend... we'll call her Star Particle, which appears to be a name she's chosen for herself. I met her in college when we had the same class in freshmen year. She grew into one of my best friends. After graduation, she moved a few states away, and I've only seen her in person once since then.
My Little Pony had just started airing when she left, and I was not yet a fan, and I'm not sure she was either. But afterward, we both became hooked on the show. She's my only real-life friend who has read my fanfics, and her praise meant a lot to me.
I bring this up because today, in the mail, I got this from her:
That cup was made by her. The cards, stickers, and figures can be bought, but the cup, even if it is purely decorative, is something I'll treasure. She made them for several of her friends, and I got Fluttershy because, according to her, that's the pony I'm most like. But what I really liked was the note that came with it. [All names changed to protect the innocent]
Darth Link 22: Thank you for making mornings, days, and nights fun at [college]. Your kindness, optimism, and support have made my life significantly better - and on the darkest of days - the thought of our friendship & amazing memories help me through the bad stuff. I can say with confidence that I don't know anyone as kind, understanding, and empathetic as you are. It helps more than you know. I love you, buddy - you are one of my best friends in the entire universe, and I would take on mountains and stars for you if need be. I will always be your friend - and anytime you need a smile - you can come to me.
I'm getting this note framed. It lifted my spirits. I don't know how much this blog post is going to mean to any of you. But I wanted everyone to know what a great friend I have. Star Particle, thank you for your gift, and I hope to see you in person soon!

This is awesome, but I was momentarily confused when I saw that the title was the same as my fanfic.
I'm rather jealous of you right now, to have someone who means that much to you. Right now, I need a friend like that whom I can talk to about something... but the two whom mean that much to me, I cannot talk to about what is going on.
Cherish that friendship forever. Because when you lose someone that close, it kills you on the inside
This is truly amazing, the note that she gave you almost had me in tears. Whoever she is, she seems like a true, true friend. People in this world need to be more like her, and that's why us bronies need to help everyone that we can to make this world a better place. She is truly an inspiration, and if you can, tell her that she's awesome!

this is a very beautiful thing your friend has said to you and then adding in a gift of several rarer cards and homemade items is a very thoughtful and very nice gift I know it's the purpose behind the gifts but that really touches me anyway you would have put it I hope you get to see each other soon
