I can't sleep, because I am plagued with an idea for a story I know I will never write. I have two I'm working on, plus a comic... so this third one will never happen. Therefore, I will put the idea out on the interwebs in hope someone will take it off my claws.

I could see it with Fluttershy, too. Or even Applejack, seeing as how she's the most Not-girly of the bunch. Though, I don't really see her going to some fancy school on a scholarship (based on the cutie-mark episode).
I really don't see it happening with Rarity or Pinkie pie. RD is kind of on the borderline. She's a Tomboy, but I don't see her coming across as anything but female.

I can't really see AJ, she just seems like she would not pretend to be a boy since that is lying, and she jus' don't do that sorta thing.
Fluttershy maybe, but she would have a hard time speaking to all those new people (ponies). Rarity would declare that she is a lady, maybe only after some time be convinced to act as a male. Pinkie Pie would just Pinkie around and scare everypony.
I could see RD since she kinda is oblivious to things and likes a good prank.

She's done lies of ommission before, and bent the truth to fit her purpose. If it was something along the lines of 'she has to' I believe she would. Especially if she were being blackmailed into it (like Haruhi was). Granted, Haruhi was kind of easy to convince. I think the club would have been able to get AJ to do it, it just might have taken a light bit more effort.
I'll be honest, I think the club could convince ANY of them to do it, given the opportunity.
It would def. have to be season 3 Fluttershy. Where she's not QUITE such a scardy pony. RD, again, I couldn't see her fooling anyone into thinking she's a dude, even if she is oblivious and all.
I will have to say, I think Twilight is the best pony to fit this. I'm not sure how she would be confused for a dude, unless she was wearing the 'male uniform' like Haruhi was in the manga/show. But I think she's probably the most plausable swap.

I still don't see how RD comes off as such a girl to you. She seems to be the type that is "one of the guys". She wouldn't even have to act like a dude since she already kinda does. AJ would need a good reason to pretend to be a guy, also she would need a good reason to even care about school and the "fancy mathematics".
If they are still ponies, I think it might take more than just a uniform. The head shape is far different between the the genders.

I think it's just the way I see her. Her character actually reminds me of a friend of mine. She's athletic, 'one of the guys' sort of girl, but there is absolutely NO WAY she would ever be mistaken for a guy. Even an effemenant one. It's probably the character design/personality that comes across that way to me.
Twilight, on the other hand, comes across as more easily seen as a guy. Her mane is a no-nonsense, 'easy' style. Her coloring is darker than any of the other mane six. She does have that sort of niave-ness that would get her in the situation. Heck, whenever you see any of the gender-swapped forms of the mane six, Dusk Shine was always the most believable swap to me. He LOOKS like a dude, not just some masculinized version of a female pony.
But that's just me.

I suppose. Dash's mane is easily the least styled, and Rainbow Blitz always seemed believable. Though I generally stray away from the R63 Mane 6. Also, many males in the show have light coat colorings, there is really no pattern.
