The Price of Loyalty Non-Canon Sequels Announcement - "The Great Divide" & "To The Very End" · 2:13am Jul 4th, 2013
Hey guys. I felt like sharing something with you today. I've mentioned it many times, but I wanted to really talk about what I had in mind for The Price of Loyalty, namely, the two non-canon sequels.
Today, I'm proud to announce The Great Divide and To The Very End.
Without revealing major spoilers, here's what these stories will consist of: The Price of Loyalty will have a definitive end to the story, at least that's what the plan is. I've given some thought to incorporating the non-canon sequels to PoL's canon, but that will depend on the success of PoL itself. Either way, what will follow is a continuation of Ashen's journey in a major what-if scenario that alters PoL's original ending's circumstances. His relationship with a few of the characters present in PoL will be explored in the two sequels as well as a larger arc of his redemption story that, in theory, will not feel tacked on, but rather, expanded on.
The titles have also been chosen just as carefully as Price of Loyalty's has, where the titles have a type of deeper meaning to them and reflect elements in the story. The Price of Loyalty focuses on loyalty and consequences of it, The Great Divide focuses on characters driven apart and try to continue driving each other apart as things get progressively worse, and To The Very End is about a long and desperate struggle between overwhelming odds and overcoming major personal hurdles to a seemingly hopeless end.
This is also where I want to announce the code-names of the two universes between the Canon and Non-Canon stories:
The Canon universe is known as the "Reunion" Universe.
The Non-Canon universe (where The Great Divide and To The Very End take place) is known as the "Rebuild" Universe.
I'll be referring to these often as I announce Short Stories and Spin-offs based on these two universes, both namely taking place in the Reunion universe, while nothing has been planned in the Rebuild universe apart from the highly ambitious sequels.
I know I'm a long way off from finishing The Price of Loyalty, but these have been plans that have been in the making since the story's inception almost a year ago, and I'm very excited to explore the two non-canon sequels and the situations I have planned for them. Of course though, Price of Loyalty needs to come first, and don't worry, I'm still working on it (and Journal 4) so be sure to keep an eye out for more additions to the story. I'm especially eager to get to Journal 6 where the really interesting stuff begins.
I can only hope for your continued support, and hopefully, excitement, for these sequels, as well as the planned Spin-Offs and Short Stories.
Thanks for reading!
-M.
P.S. Want to know more? Well, I wrote you guys a Spoilerific Google Doc containing more details of the specifics of the story. Fair warning though, a LOT of The Price of Loyalty's planned plot is spoiled, so if you want to read the stories for yourself without potential spoilers, avoid reading the Google Doc at all costs!
