Welp... good news and iffy news for you guys today.
Good news, PoL Journal #4's first draft is done, and is pretty close to the final version. However, for anyone who knows me at all, I hate the revision stage and it takes eternity for me to get around to doing it. Despite a positive mindset toward such endeavors, the thought of tearing a good draft to pieces annoys the hell out of me, but it more so annoys me cuz I've already been taking as long as I have to the point where Price of Loyalty's continuation is being questioned.
Frankly, this is where the "iffy" news comes in.
I need to force myself into a rhythm of writing and I know with PoL I'll stop every chapter, want to revise it, get annoyed with it, and not bother with it whatsoever. So I need to do one or both of the following things:
1. I need to just write the rest of the story. No revisions, no editing, no tweaking, no quality checking - not until the story is finished. I've had the entire plot mapped out for over a year now and I need to get it on paper or it'll rot. This is gonna be a test of ignoring my inner editor and desire to publish chapters every time I finish them, but it'll be a challenge worth overcoming because I need to get out of my reluctant-editing phase and finish what I started two years ago.
2. I have to work on side stories. I've been getting plenty of ideas for stories and themes to write, and some of them will be practice in different styles or with certain mechanics. For example, there's one story I wanted to do a long time ago involving a first-person perspective of a blind Rainbow Dash in a touchy-feely romance thing. It was going to be an experiment in writing using every other sense; sound, smell, taste, and touch. These kinds of stories will get me to write in new ways, find stories that work and which ones don't, so ultimately I can find what I enjoy writing and can be able to write it effectively.
I may try to do both, perhaps sit down and work on something or other for 2-3 hours a day. This'll get me to work on the writing habit I mentioned in my New Years Resolution. It's something to try and pound down my inner editor into the ground so I can keep moving forward, and not stopping to make fixes, which is what constantly stops me from writing in the first place.
What this also means though is that I'm going to need a capable editor. I'll be writing a bunch of first drafts and potential second drafts and I'll need someone to help motivate me into fixing them, as well as improving them to make them far better stories. However, this editor needs to keep me out of "revision limbo" like I have been these past 8+ months on Journal #4, which is extremely important that I don't get stuck into again.
So starting tomorrow when I get home, I'm gonna lock myself in my room and work on something. It probably won't be Journal #4 of PoL, as much as I wanna get it done and published, I need to do something far more important:
I need to write.
Thanks everyone. Be sure to keep calm and pony on!

I thought that was me.
