Aquillo

Scootaloo is the bestest and greatest crusader. Sweetie Belle is nothing but a dog's chew toy--one of the squeaky ones--given life, and Apple Bloom just sucks.

A Public Service Anouncment and some Forthcoming Things

I honestly didn't expect to write this blogpost.

No, seriously. I tried to get on a day ago only to be rebuffed by my lack of accurate password knowledge. Given that I'd also changed the email to gibberish, I thought it was pretty damn certain I wouldn't be able to get back on here. Many tears were cried as I shrugged and went back to bickering at people about their sloppily metered poetry.

    On Forcing a Story

I’ve been reading through a lot of articles/advice on writing recently, and one recurring piece has stood out to me: that writers have a duty to finish their stories once started.

I have figured out how to win at Fimfiction

Fallout Equestria was released a few minutes later -- and is, in fact, the feed update. And then after that, Harpflank & Sweets updated. It has been a good day.

Man, I am never going to get used to how perfectly silly that pun is. It’s probably going to end up overwriting the original in my head in the exact same way Canterlot has.

Oh, right, seriousness. Cough, yes. Ahem.

For the past month, I think, I’ve been involved in a pseudo ponetry underground movement, which sounds a lot cooler in my head than it does when read. The fruits of that labour are soon set to go live as the collaborative whole hits Fimfiction flat on the jaw. We’re hoping it’ll break like glass, but tbh we’d be happy if Fimfic’s just stunned for a bit so we’re free to make off with Knighty’s crown jewels.

It’s around Eight K in total and located over here, in case you missed the huge link up top. I know that poetry isn’t something most people sit down to just read, and the fact that it’s a collection of mostly unconnected shorts doesn’t do much to help. Still, there’s good stuff in there, and the shortness comes packaged with an efficiency that prose seldom matches. I’d appreciate if it you could give it a gander, if only so Horizon feels satisfied in his victory over our robotic overlords of quality control.

Please? Please.

As for the personal touch/memories defecation, this was a great deal of fun. Crowning moment for me was probably the Princess fight, which is the excuse we give for why there’s so many of them. Technically, Princess Luna Guards a Field would've have probably been one of them had feet not been put firmly down. Ah well. I guess it'll just have to be non-canonical to the whole Princess movement.

It's also exposed me to a fair bunch of decent authors; my 'to read' list has had a splurge in weight gaining recently. Which is nice. The only thing I regret is that we didn't do any truly collaborative efforts: there's a lot of pigeons roosting in the same hole, but not so many getting it on to produce weird pidgeon-y offshoots. We should have been firmer in our stance on pidgeon-y offshoots, I feel.

I'll dump up some other stuff inside Story Poop when I'm done processing it: there's a few uncompleted poems to go in there (one TwixCadence 2nd person, future tense gypsy warning fic; another dragons raiding pre-ponyville Ponyville thingy; some other less gritty things), a few first drafts and edited away endings and a lengthy "oh god, I hate villanelles" running author's notes commentary.

Other than that, a *click!*

Because sometimes there is no rhyme or reason.
