"Look at the world your precious Sundance has created. Look at how she rules the land with nobility rivaled by none other," he uttered to her in a deceitful tone, "The entire world flows under her hooves, and yet..."
"And yet..." she repeated.
"...you are not acknowledged, or even mentioned at all," he finished as his grin curled into a smile, "All of your adventures, all of your trials and hardships, all for naught as she attained the best her world had to offer."
His slender body snaked to her other side, his yellow eyes gleaming in what little light the room had as he stared into hers, "How does that make you feel?"
She swallowed hard, but said nothing. The last time she had seen Sundance was years ago. In that time, all of her adventures and all of her pony friends had disappeared as she was left to live her own life, without magic, or without the fantasies of the pony world.
Looking back to the window the creature next to her had opened, she could see her precious Sundance engaging in formal activity with other ponies, most particularly with a blue pony with a light blue mane. The smaller ponies bowed whenever they crossed paths with Sundance and the other pony, praising them as if they were royalty.
"Face it, Megan. You're not important to them anymore," he sneered, placing an eagle claw on her shoulder.
For a long time, Megan had been left to pursue life on her own, no ponies, no adventures, and she quickly realized that her future was not all it was cracked up to be. The people she met weren't nice, everyone had expectations of her, and as she grew, she learned how cruel the world could be through social hypocrisy and culture. More than once she had wanted to just return to her friends and escape to that magical land once again, but she knew better than anyone that that was no longer possible.
It wasn't fair.
"But it doesn't have to be that way," Discord said with a dark tone, "You don't have to be in the shadows any more..."
"What do you mean?" she asked, oblivious to the evil intentions he was hiding.
"If goody two horseshoes Cel-I mean, Sundance can be the ruler of her own world, surely there's no reason you can't be given that honor as well. After all," he reclined in the air as he inspected his talons, "it's only fair that you deserve something for all of your hard work."
"Wh..." it was so tempting, hearing his sweet words dripping like poison, "What do I have to do?"
"A world where you are the most important person of all, just like you were in your glory days," Discord explained as he lay on his stomach in the air, folding his paw and claw as he stared her down, "Although, things will have to be a little different, since you've gotten a little older."
"Age doesn't matter to me," she clenched her fists in fear, although she did not know why, "What do I have to do?"
"Nothing," he said as his figure began to disappear in the shadows, "Just remember, you will be the most important person in the world once again. As long as you can keep it that way, is all..."
As he disappeared from her room, Megan turned to what few make up and hair products she had been bothered to buy. If she were to become the center of attention, how was she to accomplish it? The world had revealed its true colors to her as she grew, and she knew that kindness and empathy were no longer enough to get by in this world anymore. If Discord kept his promise, that he would give her the world she craved, would it be any different from the one she knew? She couldn't take that chance. She was presented with the opportunity of a lifetime, and she would soon be on her pedestal in the center of the world, just like Sundance had achieved in her own world.
Sundance...became royalty in her own world, through her own volition, in a world where kindness and generosity reigned supreme. To become a queen herself, she needed to do away with those ideals, and adopt the cold facade of reality.
"The sun will set, and leave a shimmering beauty upon this transformed world...
...And in the world where I am centered, that light will casts its glow on me, for as long as I live."
Interesting.
Just a heads up, this isn't supposed to be anything in particular, I just decided to write a little drabble.
Also, apparently titleless blog posts are impossible to click on so apologies.
