I've heard of fearing change but this is ridiculous speculation over nothing. The new episode is here, it was enjoyable, and 26 more episodes are on the way. End of story.
Twilicorn was inevitable. Twilight was the most powerful unicorn an ageless deity had ever seen, her personal protege and groomed for this very moment. For her not to ascend to a position of greater power would have been insulting to the fandom. Are we all going to boycott Hasbro when the Cutie Mark Crusaders finally get their cutie marks? That means no more crusading! And what if Scootaloo doesn't get a cutie mark of a scooter flying through a flaming hoop? I suppose next we'll boycott when Scootaloo learns to fly, because she's a cripple damn it!
I think people are over-reacting over nothing. All we know is Twilight has wings and Hasbro has a new toy line. Is that enough to make the writers forget how to write episodes as well as they have for the past 3 seasons? Will Daniel Ingram forget how to compose? Is that all it takes for you to quit a fandom you enjoyed so much, and that gave so much back to you?
I'd rather have them taking the show in new directions, evolving, and having continuity. Little girls might not care if this show ends up like the Simpsons with 520 repetitive, boring episodes where everything that happens is completely reset at the end of the episode, but the bronies should care.
How much longer did you really think she could sit around studying friendship for? How much longer would the writers stick around writing the same stories over and over? And seriously, why would Twilight say "You know what, I've learned so much about friendship and learned every spell known to ponies, so I'm just gonna switch back to a unicorn and hang out in a dusty library for the rest of my life."
Alicorn Twilight is here to stay, it's the negativity that needs to disappear.
